Devices around 100 bucks cant be compared because they will be worse than S6 or S7 samsung.

It won't be as quick as S22, but it will be still quick enough for Facebook and all essential apps people use in daily life, just except the latest heavy games, and even those might be fine at lower graphics settings. It will still be faster than most budget phones sold as new today.

And about basic apps even the basic apps does not runs the same like on a new device.
For example that S9. Running facebook on S9 when it was brand new device and the app was on a tottaly different level from now with different interface etc. is not the same like running it now.
Its not only about the games.
Many other apps evolved too and phones with less ram and older hardware could have heating issues, lagging probelms etc.

Lastly more updates wont raise device value.
When your warranty goes off. I mean after 2 years value of your device will be maybe 30% of its innitial pricing. I mean 2 years used device.

Of course, I'm not talking about playing the latest heavy games, although one can still play a lot of games on it, but apps one needs in daily life to get things done: calls, navigation, payments, messaging, etc.

To insure that the latest apps are working and avoid any security issues, the latest OS updates and security patches are key. That's why I respect the companies offering longer support for their products and people that use their phones for as long as possible (although I'm not one of them).

very true. Becoz i personally dont use a phone for more than 2 years. in fact i bought a oneplus 8 pro June 2021. i might end up changing to a oneplus 11 sometime june 2023. till then this beast does its job pretty well. 12GB RAM and 256GB internal is fine with me. and most importantly i love the slider and the ip68 ratiing in this one.

Good news for people who buy Unlocked units, not relevant for people who buy through carriers. I still think two OS update is more than enough for most people. Three OS update is welcome, but four sounds too much.

                          99% is way too much.
And ending with very updated phone with latest OS and UI but a very old hardware unable to run most basic things is just bad.
Just for example latest google phones gets 5 OS updates thats equal to Samsung S7 trying to run those most basic apps. They will laggs a lot and the hardware will not keep up because will be old and overheating on everytime you try for multitasking.

So OnePlus finally found out that people hate how this company supports its products once they are sold. On the Nord2 they are now 2 Android versions behind what Google offers. I really doubt they will catch up any time soon after the disaster that was the Android 12 release.

Try to run Diablo Immortal, Forza Motosport Gensin Impact, Forge of Empires, Clash of Lords etc on an old but very updated phone and game either wont run or will lagg as hell.
                                Trust me.
Basic apps like brownser, twitter, viber, instagram, tiktok, facebook should be fine but most complex games wont run that easily.
                                Know that from own experience.

AnonD-731363, 01 Dec 2022If only that would be true. People will swap their phones... moreNot true, any 4-5 years old flagship phone works pretty well. My OnePlus One worked well for 5 years, no issues with any software or speed. The battery wouldn't last as long as when it was new, but it was fine still and I sold it as a working phone, after 5 years of use.
A friend has galaxy S9 and has no issues with it either. The iphones last even longer.

For anyone willing to read this.
Its nice if company gives 4-5 even more OS uodates.
Only real problem is at the end (lets say for example after 5 years of use) you get a very updated phone with newest OS and latest apps, but on the other hand you end up with old hardware unable to run those latest apps, games etc.
So having a lot of updates is like a double slicing sword.
