Because of their unique architecture, periscope cameras have higher optical zoom capabilities than normal telephoto cameras. They have a rectangular or L-shaped opening on the outside, which falls onto a prism inside the module. The prism bends the light ray to 90 degrees and then passes through the lens and sensor to produce a clear picture. The longer the tunnel, the higher the optical zoom range becomes. The camera will need more space to accommodate the sensor. But has a narrow field of view and requires more ambient light and its aperture is smaller than a telephoto lens. Because of that, it has a smaller field of view and a lower pixel count. The sensor inside is usually placed horizontally. As a result, the sensor size is smaller. This limits the amount of light that enters the camera.

I think the reason for the Sunday launch is simple. The iqoo 11 goes on sale on Monday morning (the day after). Xiaomi wants to launch before this as these series will compete at around the same price range and releasing it before the iqoo 11 series is on open sale gives consumers something to think about. Otherwise Xiaomi may loose some customers to IQOO.

I love the brand Xiaomi. My son has a Redmi 9 Note i think, and he loves it. I've had Xiaomi 10 Note Lite, and more recently the Xiaomi Mi 11i but after considering buying the 12T Pro, i decided against it given it was €900 and would not improve my current phone that much - i have a great phone, but i really wanted a flagship, and much bigger screen and apart from the ludicrously priced fold up phones, the biggest was the Samsung s22 Ultra, which i opted for with a pretty good 'Black Friday' deal. So i'm a Samsung boy now. I've still got loads of Xiaomi products in my house though!

I prefer the look of the none 13 pro, shame they not doing bigger screen of that one .. currently with mi 11 and still happy with it so likely skip this seems most focus is camera which I dont care for it much

They look really nice but it's disappointing the the final length of the mi13 is still 23mm despite the smaller sensor.
