k, 10 Dec 2022USB-C its a standard only not that hard to have charging ... moreYou lost me there? Sure we could have profiles, that is not the point.

I was only arguing that there are no real need for brand dedicated chargers.
As we should try to avoid using fast charger for batteries that are not easily replaceable, and secondly that even when we are in need of fast-charging, PD kan supply the needed power.

Only for eu? Wonder What about the rest of the world?

Should be mandatory to be able to replace the battery. More environmentally friendly than throwing the whole phone away everytime the battery dies.

Means no mandatory USB-C on iPhones before 2025 (they're free to bring them before, but no obligated to).

Nokia isn't in the smartphone business anymore, since years, time to update yourself.

HMD is, as of right now, like any other company, free to go for whatever charging ways they wants.

All companies are free not to sell in Europe, if they're unhappy with that regulation. Others will be happy to comply & get some €uros.

And as practically no phones today are delivered with a end-user replaceable battery this matters - for most they can (at best) only be changed at a service centre...

Fast charging is a lot like fast-food. Very convenient, and fine for occasional usage, but shortens the lifespan if used daily.

It is much better for the battery to charge with a slow 500mA charger, while it is cold, e.g. while you sleep.

That said PD is a standard too, so as they are bound to support that if capable of drawing over 15W, even fast-charging can be standard.

So 3 threads in a cable sufficient, 2 for power and 1 optical for data.

USB-C is a bad decision for 2024. By then data should be through optical fiber and only power by metal wire. They should have made a cable with 2 metal wires and 2 optical fibers, quite thin, and magnetically attached at heads.

Being only a hole, it can be cleaned easier, it is harder to remove the lint and dust from USB-C. Besides lightning is tougher, I bent several USB-C male connectors, and literally cracked, being a thin metal sheet tubular, not a thick solid tip which I've never bent so far.

imo it's kinda dumb. ppl will still have extra cables and charger because ppl don't share and dont like to have one charger for 2 phones anyway. and I don't even use an iphone.

But I proposed the PD speed to be at least 75% to their max speed
ex. If they advertise 200W charger, the PD should be around 150W-200W.
