In the Korean company's view, it's time for people to get off the fence and switch.

Samsung's One UI also has ways to facilitate using large screens, which was how I could put up with the Note 10 for a full two years, but I just don't want to bother with shortcuts/workarounds aymore; I've decided that a smaller, flagship grade phone fits my needs/usage and the iPhone mini is just that.

PhoneFreak45, 16 Dec 2022Well... If we do the math, the Xperia 5 IV is a mere 4.65% ... moreIt's more about anatomy than math; those 3 extra millimeters can be the difference between being able to comfortably reach across the phone and having to strain and shuffle the phone to do so. Mind you, and as I said, the Sony is much taller/thicker so the math doesn't work either; it's a much larger phone, period. Battery life is a whole nother discussion that's irrelevant to what I stated as the main reason behind switching to the iPhone mini; i.e. one hand usability. Having said that, I'm not a heavy user, plus I always have access to a charger whether at home, work or in my car, so the iPhone mini's battery life fits my needs just fine. In fact, it's similar to what I was getting with the Note 10.

Since Apple started doing it, pretty much all Android brands do the same except LG. Even Sony used to do the same before with the XZ2 series, XZ3, 1, and 5 before they put it back on the 1 ii and keep it to this day.

More impor... moreThe key to dealing with a tall narrow Android phone is using Nova Launcher and set the desktop grid to 7x4. Then use a weather widget to cover the top that's 4x2. I have 12 apps per each page not including the 4 apps on the dock. My thumb reaching the upper left corner to touch an app is the same distance as using an iPhone SE 2016. And my Flip 3 and Razr 5G when unfolded is taller than a Pixel 7 Pro .

Sammy0, 16 Dec 20223 mm are a lot when it comes to cellphone width. More impor... moreWell... If we do the math, the Xperia 5 IV is a mere 4.65% wider than the 12 mini. That is objectively not a lot. I would also point out that the 12 mini has a much much smaller batter. The 5 IV has a roughly 150% larger battery. If you want a small phone - you'll have to deal with battery compromises. I'm afraid to say in the age of us expecting 8 hours + screen on time out of our phones that a 5.4" phone just isn't realistic anymore.

Anonymous, 16 Dec 2022Really? Then why does Android 13 raise the minimum requirem... moreUh, yeah. An S22 or S22 ultra is a *premium* phone. We don't need to talk about average consumers because those phones are priced well above average consumers. If you just need to communicate with people, even a A03 is gonna do you just fine. Anything above an A23 is gonna be complete overkill for communication tasks. Phones aren't just communicators anymore. They're pocket computers. Just because android 13 has raised the minimum system requirement doesn't mean it can't still run on low end hardware. And +, android Go exists. For low end hardware that's why it exists. It's simply ridiculous to talk about how a premium phone handles communication tasks given how overkill flagship processors are for that. It's the PC equivalent of talking about how well a computer with an RTX 4090 and core i9 13900K handles Microsoft Word. It's ridiculous.

Just web browsing. I use Opera as it has better adblock than Edge or Firefox or UC. And very user friendly easy interface. And listening to music. I use Samsung music player. Very easy and working well. Make sure you use this equalizer setting. From left to right. 7DB 5DB 4DB 1DB. Leave other lines to 0DB. You will get better bass but not overpowering and clear sound without any sharpness or sibilance.

PhoneFreak45, 16 Dec 2022Heavier, but, in the case of the Xperia it's only 3mm ... more3 mm are a lot when it comes to cellphone width. More importantly, width is only one dimension; the Sony is also much taller/thicker, which makes it noticeably harder to use one-handed than the iPhone mini. I thought about all those alternatives since I wanted to stay with Android, which I prefer to iOS as I said, but there was just no beating the iPhone mini in terms of usability.

It's funny that the author thinks he knows how all people speak. I wonder how many people he has talked to.

I have grown to quite like my fold 3 BUT now my factory screen protector is coming off from the top of the crease and it looks really really bad. It feels like I'm a beta tester of these Samsung fold phones.

What's with this obsession about iPhones? It's getting annoying at this point, they anyways follow everything Apple does..

They complained that it was slow and the battery drained a ton and switched to Apple when they had the chance to. They still use Apple to this day and are frustrated by not having a headphone jack and to use a dongle, but since most Android flagships have no headphone jack nowadays, there is little motivation to switch.

That's it? Your features are Android and a phone that folds? What about the features that used to make Android phones stand out like replaceable batteries, expandable storage, and a headphone jack? Come back, Samsung.
