Qualcomm is expected to prioritize the Taiwanese partner due to its incredible yield rate.

I can't wait to see console-level gaming on mobile like the iPhone 17 Pro Max is getting: Assassin's Creed Mirage, Resident Evil etc.

I don't know why they are messing about with clusters. Maybe they tried to add more lower-clocked clusters for efficiency but realised that most people needed more, so they started adding more higher-clocked clusters.

One thing is for sure, the single most powerful CPU eats power like anything. I remember suffering random overheating when using my phone even for simple games, then I rooted my phone, flashed a custom ROM and kernel and locked the big core to the lowest frequency.

Lo and behold, I never had overheating issues again. I also never noticed any issues with performance.

Anonymous, 02 Jan 20238gen2 and sd870 are non heat issue soc870 heats like 865

        Vikass17, 03 Jan 2023TSMC is having 80 % yield, Samsung is 20%, Who is 60-70%?TSMC is 75-80% yield
Samsung was 20%, but they partnered with an American company (Silicon Frontline) and now they are 60-70%

It's comical how inferior Samsung is to TSMC at making chips. Why is it that TSMC only has 1 lousy competitor?

Snapdragon 8 gen 3 hopefully will being performance and power efficiency improvements

The tsmc versions are going too be better than the ones made by Samsung

I hope it's made more clear who manufacturs witch processor is made by tsmc or Samsung

Possibly make 2 versions with different names and prices would be ideal

                I just want lower pricing
I hope they extend the production life of flagship processors as well as highly power efficient mid range processors

The reason this is so good is because by using per set up production and manufacturing equipment it's become cheaper too make the same chipset overtime but lowers production costs

The Snapdragon 8 gen 2 will be a good processor for a long time

I think the Snapdragon 870 that is basically a overlooked old flagship 865 was one of the best processor made because of reduced pricing reasons

.. or else i m moving to apple

Are they trying to cheat customers by mixing useless Samsung chips with TSMC chips. There must be a way to distinguish both or else it is cheating. Mobile manufacturers will also send TSMC chip phone to YouTube reviewers and gullible customers will get junk Samsung chip phones

I bet the non important markets will get Samsung variant as per usual.

Penk2856, 02 Jan 2023For some years now, that's been happening with iPhone.... moreThis doesn’t seem as prevalent as it was years ago with Samsung doing a huge majority of the orders now.

Anyway, it will be a pity if people find themselves getting a S8 Gen 3 made by Samsung, hopefully there is a way to tell them apart.

Good! We won't see heating issues.

Will 3nm really gives greater benefits for its high price tag later on?

Yes its bleeding edge but if it cost too much with minor benefits, then better focus for now in 4nm and optimize it or lower the price. Pushing 3nm will only ramp up phone price.

But on the otherhand, Im into it as well for continuous progress of mobile chipset especially the battery effenciency it could offer - as battery tech seems progressing very slow and this the only way to have more battery life for now.

Buuut, cant restructure of chipset or different die process on 4nm instead can also achieve this?

But, I was told by the “tech expert” commenters in this site that Samsung makes everything in house and US companies can’t do anything.
