ok most people play on 1080p and some 4k , many of you don't even have an rtx GP. not even SSD to paly but hey.. that's fine . you can still play 60+ fps or may be 30 fps and still fine as long as you can run your favorite game, people who use xbox one or ps4 they have a GPU slower than a GTX 1650 ... even xbox one uses gddr3 ram 8g ... and still can run decently video games .... this means as long as you have a cheap decent card , good amount of ram and a cheap decent enogh cpu you are fine...

And being bottlenecked at 1440p in an unoptimized game with full Raytracing while still getting 200+ fps is just ridiculous. You can call the universe a bottleneck if you're a black hole lol.

The question remains do we need to game on anything above 1440p at 120hz? For 99.9% i would say no. So that makes it pretty much pointless. Why would anyone buy something he wouldn't need is question to ask ourselves when we're buying pc parts. Or tech at all... ofc there's always a flagship part but can you as a user utilize it enough to make it worth?

                        RIP Intel

They could even put 8 gb of L2 cache (the writer's mistake) and it still wouldn't make a difference unless you play on 480p with everything set to low. You are always gpu bottlenecked, especially at 1440p and 4k, even on a rtx 4090.

If you are on budget you can find i7 8700 under $200 ebay, + Rx 6400 under $150 its possible to get Entry level gaming pc which is capable playing 1080p for around $250 to $300.

Also intel cpu with Quicksync are really good at encoding/decoding so above pc wont have issues with video codecs.

Take Nvidia for example, price to performance is linear from 90 series - >80 series - >70 series - >60 series but on 50 series is more than half of performance 3060 despite priced only 20% less.

AMD rx 6400 can't even decode a H. 265 and AV1 and play youtube video with only 4 Pcie lanes, they can't even be used in Plex or media server or if you just want video out then use igpu and use that money elsewhere to buy more storage.

"the 7800X3D has the 8GB L2 cache" -> now that is something i want to see

I swear buying CPUs nowadays is like playing a game of cat and mice.

Each year it just keeps getting better and better, and each year you sell your previous gen CPU for a new gen.

It's no big deal, as long as you didn't screw yourself by buying a CPU when the prices were inflated like I did.

I remember getting my 5900X back in March for $515, and that was only when it was "on sale". Now it's only worth $429 regular price.
