FlagshipsSuck, 10 Jan 2023Thanks. I see in DXOMark Vivo's are a little under the... moreVivo x90 pro plus is way better than Xiaomi 13 pro in term of camera performance, you can watch some test on YouTube, don't trust dxo mark it's not reliable.
The periscope of the Vivo is great unlike the one on the Xiaomi, but Xiaomi can do the "periscope macro" thing if you're into that, but it's very niche.
X90 pro plus is also better overall, it should be compared with the 13 ultra rather than the pro, when it comes out.

FlagshipsSuck, 10 Jan 2023I have never, ever owned a Vivo and know nothing about them... moreVivo cameras are among the best, if not the best available.
Their Zeiss partnership is a big deal, unlike Leica and Hasselblad for Xiaomi and OnePlus, here Vivo uses Zeiss special lenses and have a color profile that is close to perfect from them, also a lot of photographic styles.
X90 pro plus is the best camera phone right now and x80 Pro was also among the best (as good as s22U and 12s ultra)
They also use a custom ISP chip for their processing and it results in the best HDR available on the market and amazing nightime photos too

Anonymous, 10 Jan 2023The cameras on Vivo flagships like X90 series are generally... moreThanks. I see in DXOMark Vivo's are a little under the Xiaomi phones in terms of performance. I guess in this case it's not so much that it would be worth considering. I would likely just go for the phone that meets my needs.
I did a bit more of a comparison between the two. The Vivo X90 Pro+ has one extra sensor (periscope telephoto) which the Xiaomi 13 Pro does not have (likely it will be on the 13 Ultra much later). It also has listed far worse video recording performance, no slo-mo at all, no HDR and no 10bit or LOG video. The Vivo has an AMOLED screen, vs the Xiaomi's OLED screen, so colours are likely nicer on the Vivo and battery drain and burn-in from the screen would be less likely too. Though on the other hand the USB 3.2 is also really nice on the Vivo for a quick backup/transfer from PC and it has a 32bit DAC (which I likely wouldn't get any real use out of as I use Bluetooth for audio).
It's a really hard choice actually. The Vivo X90 Pro+ likely will not be available in Nordics at all. At least none only literally 1 or 2 obscure stores have been selling their previous phones here. Whereas basically all stores stock the Xiaomi series.
I have never used a Xiaomi phone that I didn't like, and I have never used a Vivo at all. So I would likely pick Xiaomi as I am not so bothered by the loss of periscope telephoto and slower USB-C 2.0. Xiaomi also releases very fast updates in my opinion and their battery life is arguably the best in the world.
It's a very hard decision though...

FlagshipsSuck, 10 Jan 2023I have never, ever owned a Vivo and know nothing about them... moreThe cameras on Vivo flagships like X90 series are generally good. Avoid their midrange V series and Y series.

Malaysian here. So far no confirmation on the Pro+ variant. But if the global Pro is the Pro Plus, it means we probably going with a different naming scheme. Otherwise, hope for the best.

I have never, ever owned a Vivo and know nothing about them. How good are they with cameras in general? They are relatively unknown at all in Nordics where I live. Here we are dominated by Scamdung, Xiaomi and OnePlus.

Beauty of Android are Nothing OS, Pixel UI, Oue UI etc.
If Origin OS Ocean release in Global, then this will be Beauty Queen.

Cannot wait, because that means more tests from more reliable sources like Gsmarena. Also, I'm wondering, whether the selfie camera will have a less "my skin is smooth as hell" effect on the global version of the software.
I get that not many people are using this feature, but would GSMArena consider looking at the RAW files when testing cameras? This feature is kind of important for me and it is a big pain in the ass to find any apples-to-apples comparison between smartphones for that matter.

The X80 Pro was launched at MYR4999 or USD1,143 in Malaysia. So expect the X90 Pro to match that or most likely even higher price given Vivo's tendency to increase prices for new models.

All these "flagship" phones are to skip out. Glass breakable sandwich design, nonsense useless curved breakable screens, no microSD slot, no 3.5 mm jack, no charger, no earphones, no cables in the box, and for a very high price only 1 to 2 more software versions than mid range phones.
