This whole thing is a joke, custom ROMs few years old cupport VoLTE, and 5G without any carrier "certifications". This is intentionally cripling with exuses that manufacturer doesn't sell phone in that country and it wasn't verified for any already supported STANDARDIZED thing. That is why we call somethings standards, because they follow certain patern, rules and regulations.

There was a huge sale season through Amazon and Flipkart where the device is advertised as 5G, but actually the phone doesn't support it so far, which I think is a clear case intentional cheating!

Szurix, 11 Jan 2023Why the hell are many other brands sold with 5g enabled to then?because the manufacturers don't bother to turn it off, which is bad. a 5g enabled phone in a place where there is so little 5g will waste battery trying to connect to a 5g tower, whereas one without 5g will just stay connected to a 4g tower.

Anonymous, 12 Jan 2023They do support VoLTE and VoWifi. Why spread wrong information?VoLTE/VoWifi is also not supported in my country in Central Europe and we also are stuck to 2g for calls. 4g/2g switching doesn't work properly, so we are sometimes left unreachable despite the phone showing normal signal. Sux big time, really unhappy with it.
I don't think modem fixes will solve it, I would much prefer enablement of VoLTE. 5G I don't care so much about yet.

If people dont know a certain option exists, how are they gonna buy it? there would be few sales, and those few sales wouldnt cover costs for shipping, R&D, paying employees, and paying the companies whos stores they sell in. ill put this in simpler terms

If you bake brownies, and take them to a party, but nobody knows you have brownies, and they're already happy eating cookies, they re not going to go see if they can get a brownie, because they don't realize they can, so they're just going to get a cookie instead.
basically, it wasn't worth making all those brownies, because nobody ate them, and they just went to waste

All of Apple's phones cost over $1000 and yet they've been selling here for over a decade
Somehow Apple can profit with $1500 phones but Google can't with a $400 phone?

As if I can't buy the device and move/relocate to another country and suddenly I am on 2G for calls. LOL. They require specific carrier settings the claim!!! 😂😂😂 Just root and problem solved! So no "special" carrier settings.

Anonymous, 10 Jan 2023MBps is more correct usage since every media we see is in MB/GBWhile you're right, I do know that internet companies misuse certain notation - they specifically advertise speeds in Mega bit (written as Mb) compared to Mega Byte (MB), which gives the impression of 8 times the speed there actually is.

                              I edited my comment tho

5G has been enabled on my S20 FE here in India, and it does give much better speeds (~200 Mb/s compared to less than 20 Mb/s on 4G), but I have no use for that extra speed.

I'm not trying to stream a 4K movie while in the metro, and 4G works perfectly fine for everything else while taking less power.

looks like 5g will be advertised as 5g ready/out of box thing from some Chinese brand's 😂
