OLED is great for TV. However, it is not so good for computer screens with tons of static content due to burn-in issues.

Anonymous, 11 Jan 2023You may be unlucky. But my laptop works 12 years now.It highly depends on what line you got. For example, getting a Lenovo ThinkPad is very different to getting anything that's made to be easy to carry. Most companies aren't like Apple. They have many product lines. But Lenovo's ThinkPads in my experience are one of the toughest laptops I have ever use. But, they're not pretty nor light, nor do they last long without a charger.

And people in developing countries buy these mainly for show up. That's why you will find an iPhone 6s in hand of 15 years old boy who might be a child labour with a monthly income less than 100 usd. What a shame.

OLEDs on laptops for me is a no-go especially when I want to work on it for 8 hours a day 5 days a week. I'm still waiting for microLED displays for laptops. Laptop displays shouldn't be disposable after 1 to 2 years of heavy usage.

I actually like miniled more than oled. It may have blooming issue but currently it's brighter than oled and doesn't have burn in issue.

The navigation bar burned in on my S8 in less than a month while my current phone (the S22+) burned in after 5 months of usage tho this time it was the notification bar at the top
So yeah, buying an expensive oled laptop and having to gamble whether or not it's gonna burn in in a month or a year does not sound fun to me when i plan on keeping it for a long time

People don't buy them because of their functionality but to flex
You won't find a single public figure who doesn't own the latest and greatest iPhone and people who can't afford a new one, buy an older model and sometimes even second hand for like $100
People who buy phones for functionality, buy Androids. You won't find anyone flexing with a Samsung or Xiaomi

Codedslam, 11 Jan 2023I Just Wonder Why People Actually Buy Anything AppleIt’s an American “culture” thing.
I live in the US. I cannot exaggerate how implemented the iPhone is in American society. Apple Pay is used virtually EVERYWHERE here. Androids barely exist here besides the occasional Samsung and Pixel. I’m even seeing an increasing number of company service apps (if you know what I’m talking about) get launched on iOS before they do on Android. In an earlier keynote, Apple announced a digital card system with BMW to unlock your car and whatnot, and I remember, it was with APPLE of all companies. Not android. Probably because America is so car-centric infrastructure-wise or something else.
I wonder why even Non-Americans buy apple tbh.

I would never buy a laptop with oled screen or literally anything else that isn't a phone
A laptop isn't something i change every 2 or 3 years. I kept mine for 10 years before switching and i don't plan on changing my current 2 year old one anytime soon
Oled screens are for short use, once you get those burn ins, it's over
