Anonymous, 13 Jan 20234. Micro LEDs consume 1000x more electrical power than OLEDs.Actually technically they can be very similar in apple to Apple comparison

max, 12 Jan 2023can someone explain microled to me? How is this more effici... moreYou need to carry a very big battery to light up micro LEDs. Also they burn out faster than OLEDs at this time.

I hope we can get more microLed displays on our devices.
With original Huawei Watch(Android Wear) which i used about 5 years it got burn in and now i am using 2018 Samsung Galaxy Watch and i fear that this will get the same eventually(i bought it 2020).
What i have read about microLed it is great alternative to oled especially now that prices are starting to get lower.
With smart watches i have thought this Galaxy Watch is the last and i would replace it with AR or smart glasses(which would look and feel like regular glasses) but because career change i cannot use glasses with cameras in work so i need a (smart)watch in the future as well.
Looking for Huawei Watch Buds which has earbuds in the watch and longer battery life than my Galaxy Watch but that will still be using oled with risk of burn in, maybe in 2023/2024 model will have microLed display.

My Galaxy watch 4 LTE is the last Galaxy watch I'll ever buy.
It is so bad. Can't use the esim cos it is making the watch overheat.
It's a known problem that Samsung never addressed.
A piece of crap

Akashi Seijuro, 12 Jan 20231. MicroLED is technically very similar to OLED, but instea... moreMicroled tech is nothing like before or has to do anything with backlit technology. All bakclit technology including mini led with full array local dimming zone are basically ips/tft/va panels with lcd and colour filter. Microled itself is the rgb emitting source. Which makes it as efficient as oled panels based on the led and pixel numbers.

Bought a Galaxy Active 2 when it came out. Sold it a month later.
Here I am, years later, selling my Galaxy Watch 5 after a month of use.
There is literally nothing as useless as a smartwatch. Dear God, a wooden stove makes more sense. No idea why I thought things had changed.

max, 12 Jan 2023can someone explain microled to me? How is this more effici... more1. MicroLED is technically very similar to OLED, but instead of using "organic" materials for the self-emissive pixels, "inorganic" LEDs are used instead. It's like, the LED backlight of IPS LCDs are shrunk down into super small size scale that's as big as a pixel on a typical display, and since they are "inorganic," it means their lifespan is significantly longer compared to "organic" materials used in OLEDs.
2. Inorganic LEDs are simply more efficient than organic LEDs.
3. Manufacturing of MicroLED displays is extremely complex and expensive as of this time. If manufacturing of OLEDs is still super high even after more than a decade of existence, then obviously the production costs of this superior display technology will be beyond sky high.

max, 12 Jan 2023can someone explain microled to me? How is this more effici... moremicroled's are made using inorganic materials and yield rate is very low. also the current pixel density is low so that for getting the 4k resolution, the panel must be 110" in length and that will cost $156,000.

max, 12 Jan 2023can someone explain microled to me? How is this more effici... moreFor bigger panels it isn't always about efficiency but thermal dissipation. But for smaller application, both panels will be extremely efficient based on pixels and led numbers. For a non organic display, microled will prevent ant sort of burn in while maintaining much more high dynamic range and similar contrast level

Even right now the high end oled panel is still expensive.
