I'm not a fan anymore since they failed to choose a right side to stand.

PepperPot, 16 Jan 2023 Ummm, Apple was the first to announce this satellite nonse... moreTo be honest, the way Apple introduced it looked exactly as if they wanted to be 1st because they haven't had any 1st thing for years. Usually, Apple never announces anything until Apple "surprises". But this time, they quickly announced it although it became operational months later and only in two countries. This is the behavior of someone that wanted to be 1st.
All big players have been working on this. This is not an invention of any of them. All of them make use of new technology. Also, S23 series will have it because it happens to be the next flagship from Samsung, but they have been working on that also for at least 2 years.

Anonymous, 16 Jan 2023waiting apple and Qualcomm copy this Ummm, Apple was the first to announce this satellite nonsense that none of you actually care about, need and probably won't use. Huawei was first to introduce it because it was their turn in the cycle to release a phone.
Do you think Apple was going to release their iphone months earlier just to beat Huawei so they can claim 1st? C'mon now.

I'm excited. I'm just hoping they stick with the staple innovations I expect from them, such as an improved hinge, new design form, and excellent cameras (Transplanted from the Mate 50 Pro/RS would be perfectly fine)
That's nice tho, the 2-way satellite communication. It's just a shame that it seems to be the individual country's laws forbidding the technology to be used because BDS works globally. The Mate 50 was launched globally without the satellite system enabled, even if it clearly should work.
Let's just ignore what the price will be; It will never be cheap, and it's only a matter of if it cracks 3000 dollars or not. I'm just excited to see what sort of innovations they pull off.

Olympus Oms, 16 Jan 2023Next gen satellite, but still requires mobile/wifi data? Sure. No it does not require.. sattelite has internet connection.. And emergency or police or ambulance and Fire Men is always free so they made ''exlusive'' these emergency services free.. In reality even your call or internet is free by your mobile but it is manufactured the way that unless you pay and put sim card in it it won't work but in relaity it could work by setting same frequency .. you paying only that they will link or connect same frequency with two phone devices. And satellite singal is almost everywhere covering..
You know when u remove sim card you still can phone emergency call it becsue it was exclusively allowed in smartphones to call.. And they could do it with every call so we woul dbe able to call free but of course they will never allow it.. So in reality smartphones can work without sim card but it is on purpode not alowed becsue you have to pay, simple
So as ''gateway'' they designed SIM card to select type of provider you paying and then when u try to make paid call it goes through the sim.. So without sim it is basically just blocked

Huawei was known for their stable software and solid battery life.. sadly, can't buy it as long as no internal 5G support.
On other note, the future when we use internet through satellite even inside buildings (like gps) is not too far away when manufacturers find solutions for the internal antennas and countries start launching leo satellites, it'll really be a changer for everybody, complete freedom of connectivity without wifi or sim/esim! But I think frequencies will not be enabled for every country because of the censorship laws.
