Doesn't matter, lost another "cheap" but powerful chip maker. Said that, U8500 was a technological marvel, nothing less, dual core, a GPU more than sufficient for its price range; all gone.

they should release the source code for U8500. Too bad devices running on it especially xperia p/u/go/sola havent got a working 4.1 rom yet.

pity, because novathor 9500 was supposed to be the only chip to bring imagination power vr 6 series graphics (rogue) to android (it's not sure whether Samsung would use it or mali 6 - so maybe apple would be the only one to use it at a large scale)

I feel sorry for those who lost their jobs, but when it comes to the industry, nothing of value has been lost.

Survival of the fittest. Novathor chips really didn't create a cause for concern for the big names at all.

This in return may end up giving its competitors a longer shelf life to be used in lesser models in the future.

Novathor chips are pretty amazing considering one of them clocks at a whopping 3ghz but sadly they didn't get enough support.

No surprise, it's highly anticipated. It's now just Ericsson. STMicro was drowning that's why Ericsson didn't buy STMicro's share of the joint venture.
