Apple and Samsung are the best when it comes to software updates. On time and correctly implemented.
If you care about software, stay away from Chinese manufacturers. Especially Poco or Redmi models. But, even Motorola or One Plus I have experienced poorly software updates (too late or with bugs).

Of course FaceID is not flawless and some people can have issues sometimes.
I mean I known people including myself that have issues with under display fingerprint scanners, while physical ones work fine.
Technology is not perfect, simple fact.
