      I am in the states and I think phone prices in general are way to high no matter the brand. I think the s23 ultra is the king of crazy pricing. For that price it should get atca minimum 5 years of OS updates and 7 years of security updates. $1200 for a phone with 8gb ram does seem off to me. You have to get the 512gb model to get what you should get spec wise. The colors look washed out and boring. What happened to the Note 10 with the rainbow finish or at least an electric blue or deep purple like iPhone 14 Pro Max? If you are going to release basically the same design and almost the same colors with a few internal upgrades it really isn't something people get excited about. Same curved display. People don't like curved display.

      If Samsung added an infrared Face Unlock that was actually secure, added a completely flat display, 12gb ram for base model and 16gb for high end, added quad hd to the plus, added new vibrant colors, plus 8 gen 2 and bigger batteries across the board and included the a decent fast charger they would sell like hotcakes but instead we get expensive cut rate devices unless you fork out a ton of cash. OneUI still forces pre-installed 3rd party apps which should be illegal, and tons of Samsung apps you can't disable or uninstall. Clean up the software, let people decide during setup what apps they want or don't want no matter if it is a Samsung app or 3rd party, and focus on optimization and quality give us all the above and there would be a lot less complaints.

      I have always had a love hate relationship with Samsung. I generally love the hardware and hate the software but now I am starting to dislike both. I have an s22 plus and the full hd screen and lack of cameras while still costing a lot just bothers me. Luckily through discounts, trade in I didn't pay that much but I would not pay retail/full price for any of their devices.

      I bought a Pixel 7 Pro and it is not perfect but it is what Android should be. Google needs to work on the hardware but it is more than good enough for several hundred dollars less than the ultra and even cheaper than the plus and you get more ram. I got mine during a sale so it actually cost less than the base model s22/23 MSRP. For the price I can live with the hardware compromises Google made. I would like to have a Samsung Galaxy s23 ultra but I doubt I will get much more than 50% off with trade in and unless it is around $400 or so I just can't afford it and upgrading to another plus the only benefit I would get is higher base storage and better processor.

      So I have a feeling that unless something changes like heavy discounts these are not going to sell very well for Samsung. Samsung is rumored to drop the plus model possibly next year and it is a huge mistake. What they need to do is bring the plus in line with the ultra in terms of camera and screen and then it would be a best selling device.

The new 14 Pro Max in purple is nice but the esim only option in the states really sucks. So iPhone 13 Pro Max is the last iPhone I would buy. If you are in a country that sells Pixel 7 Pro that would be the Android phone to get. Nice specs, great hardware and a decent price. I like Samsung phones but only when I have an older Samsung phone to trade in and only when the sales are on and trade in value is high. Samsung makes some of the best hardware in Android but the software is still lacking. The prices do seem a little crazy even in the states. $1200 for a phone is crazy to me. Economy sucks right now and something like a Pixel is good enough.

Samsung isn't even located in "the states" and they basically don't manufacture anything there either. US of A is as much of a subject to "shipping costs and tariffs" as is the Europe. And both are entirely outside of Asian region where Samsung's HQ and manufacturing resides.

                      Well....... I've saved up for the S23U, but will still wait to see what trade deals are for my S22U. But more importantly how much better the camera really is. Watch and read a few reviews before deciding.

The cameras are awesome and nice gadgets but now i began using my dslr camera for most photos. So my next phone doesnt need to have top cameras. i Do not need fastest lastest cpu too. And what i greatly miss is a headphone jack. Wow next phone (in 5 years) can be a decent midranger with better batterylife and jack.

                            S22 series sold less than s21 that sold less than s20. If samsung had sold near 50 devices of S + Z series, the revenue would not drop.

                            Sales of flagships are down while A series has increased.

Mine need soon their new battery, because the reduction in SOT is a bit noticeable now. The samsung store in my city charges me $90 for the replacement and change, i didn't have problem with price, i have problem with the "we need to reflash your phone entirely because yes".
                              And yes, it was pretty pricey i know, but the price was totally justified (not vs their competition), more if it had some advantages vs their bigger counterparts, this is not seen in the last gen of S series, when the smaller option is nearly the same than the plus option.

(And also the chipset in my region, by the way).
