Poco X5 Pro leaks with Snapdragon 778G, vanilla X5 with Snapdragon 695 follows

25 January 2023
The X5 Pro seems like the X4 Pro with a new, more powerful chipset. It keeps the 108MP main camera, which is now able to record 4K video.

Anonymous, 27 Jan 2023How can you say the X5 Pro will cost the same as the X4 Pro... moreI think the X5 can be cheaper than the X4 Pro since it will have a completely downgraded main camera sensor, so he's not that far off.

I can agree with your point about the potential X5 Pro pricing. I totally doubt it will cost the same as the X4 Pro, especially when the X5 Pro has a higher tier 778G chipset. We don't even know if Xiaomi will use UFS3 internal storage for the X5 Pro.

The only real issue is that *some* phones lose access to Widevine L1, because the those keys are in the secure module, and the vendor may block that functionality once the bootloader is unlocked/relocked with custom keys.

Anandtech did test with Adreno 642 (not 642L) while Adreno 640 had higher peak perfomance, Adreno 642 had more perfomance in sustained load.

So if you have Gaming phone of course 640 will perform better but normal phone there is a chance 642 to be better.

And that with 490mhz, with slightly overclock 642 will be better than 640 even in peak perfomance.

Here in Anandtech Article on 642

The pro looks far worse than the normal X5! What's the need of putting a big ugly black box on the back.

No ufs 3.1 no in display fingerprint scanner. Big no no..

Leanzazzy, 26 Jan 2023MediaTek is better in benchmarks but its real-world gaming ... moreMore like Mediatek optimizes their drivers for benchmark apps. Sometimes some manufacturers also do this "optimization" on Snapdragon (i.e., cheat), but do not mistake that for Mediatek's baked-in "optimization" that exists in every single device -- they know their buyers care about benchmark numbers more than support or anything else, so they deliver the numbers; even if real life eventually differs.

Mr. TechFreakX, 25 Jan 2023Poco means speed & power... why they use old 778G intea... moreI think you guys confuse Poco X and F.

Poco X has always use mainstream midrange soc.
                                -Poco X2 had sd 730G
                                -poco X3 had sd 732G
-if am correct there was no vanilla X4
                                -now X5 has sd 695.

Sd 695 is most powerfull soc ever in Poco Vanilla X series.

Poco X pro use more powerfull soc but far from top flagship soc
-Poco X3 pro had sd 860
-poco X4 pro had sd 695
-poco X5 pro will have sd 778G.

Sd 778G is most powerfull soc ever in pro series atleast in cpu, and its always debate with sd 860.

If you want more powerfull soc wait for Poco F5 series which always is rebrand of redmi k series, K60 already have D8100, 8+ Gen 1 and 8 gen 2, there is high possibility we will see these soc in Poco F5.

Also there was GT version but Xiaomi said they discontinue them am not sure what will happen to Successor of X4 GT.
