Weekly poll results: Wired charging needs to be super fast, wireless not so much

29 January 2023
People want wireless charging, they just don't care about its speed. Wired charging, however, that better be done in 15 minutes.

There must be batteries that don't lose health after 2000 cycles. Battery replacement is a big hassle and also expensive, time and effort consuming

Both need to be relatively fast. But there is a threshold still.
It needs to not be too fast.
As well as battery capacity needs to not be sacrificed in favor of charging speed.

We just need samsung to hurry up with these graphene batteries.

kek, 29 Jan 2023The problem with fast charging is how it degrades batteries... moreThat has not been my experience. Batteries are cheap and just need a quick visit to the service center when the phone gets to around 3 years. In-and-out in around 30 mins is what I have experienced for battery change across multiple brands.

Phones needs to last 3-5 days on heavy usage and charge slower again. Bring back the phat phones with bigger batteries and 5 hours charging.

kek, 29 Jan 2023The problem with fast charging is how it degrades batteries... moreUSB-C is liss of a design/technology upgrade and more of a module, its presense means added hardware and extra softwares. For analogy if a device is capable up to 35watt and the charger is up to 65watt, the charger is only allowed to send up to 35watt, in case the charger is not allowed to do that it will not clear the standards, means it can not sell.

So you should not be worried of batteries getting obsolete while fast charging, as many of these devises have multiple batteiy modules in order to devide the charge and achive fast charge.

The problem with fast charging is how it degrades batteries, and how those batteries are not easily replaceable.

If you could replace them, no one would bat an eye.

It's just plain dumb that people want to fully charge in under 15 minutes but don't want anything above 100w charging. Like wth? 8 course 15-30minutes knowing that a 120w charger should take 20min. The only charger I know that charge in under 15 has 210w for 10min. The only way I see a 67w charger giving under 15 minutes is if the phone has about 2500mAh anything beyond that is impractical.

well fast charging is better in the long run because I had samsung phones before and they did not have fast charging and after 5 years I can say that the one with the standard charge was worse you have to charge 3 or 2 times a day unlike the fast charging still strong so fast charging is a go

Or you know, there's the Samsung xCover6 Pro.

Has Shock-absorption, IP68, and a User Removable Battery. You go from 0% to 100% in mere seconds, not hours or minutes. Also it's easy to replace an old battery with a new one. Not to mention, it also has microSD, Headphone Jack, 4-Year Updates, and No Screen Burn-in. Does all that without compromising much on the Camera, Processor, and Display. It is the most consumer-friendly phone of 2022, it's just built to last, but you're not allowed to buy it unless you have a business. It's the stark-opposite to the Samsung Fold Z4.

I don't really mind with how long does it take to fully charge it as long as it lasts for the whole day, unlike OnePlus 9 Pro where u need to bring a charger wherever u go bcs the battery life is unreliable...

Literally no reason to be against fast charging

Manufacturers forced no headphone jack and sealed batteries unto you

But you have the power to just use a slower charger if you want ....

Anyways in other news here is an iPhone exploding while overnight charging:

I honestly think wireless charging is kind of wasteful as it is less efficient and slower. However, it is good to have as a backup if your port ever gets broken after a long time. I understand it is a convenience thing, but so is fast charging, so I guess it's up to you to decide. I just hope we don't ever see a portless phone like some have suggested Apple is considering. Wireless charging is not a substitute for wired charging IMO

If people don't have a daily routine to plug in their everyday devices for the night, then no wonder their lives are in such chaos...
