Samsung Galaxy S23 trio has improved cooling with larger vapor chambers

02 February 2023
The situation with the small S23 is a bit different - its predecessor didn't even have a VC, just graphite pads. The new model got a VC like its bigger siblings.

The way that these things are working is that SND is quite expensive for them to use so as a scam they have introduced their inhouse useless thing. Once the Exynos versions were released, they were sold at the same price as SND, they would recover the loss and their profit would be increased. Therefore, the whole Exynos thing was always a scam and would not worth attention.

IpsDisplay, 02 Feb 2023The comments before me are too positive or too neutral ... moreI agree with you but look at what the other brands like VIVO is bringing to the rest of the world...X90 and X90 Pro. No room for X90 Pro+. None of the major Chinese brands are taking their flagships outside of the mainland. At the moment, Samsung is the only option available in terms of flagships. And please don`t bring OnePlus in discussion...is not a flagship anymore. And this text has been written by a person that hates Samsung (mobile division) and was always more keen with Chinese companies but since US invented the idea of "Huawei is spying" and not "Huawei is trashing Apple", every part of flagship coming from China went downwards while Samsung stood a bit afloat.

Because there were too many chargers been thrown away.

Daemon Targaryen, 02 Feb 2023S22s also dealt with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 which was even ... moreThe 8 gen 1+ was also just a slightly better version of the chip from my understanding. Not just because of foundry change.
Tmsc is better but not by huge margins. Samsung is still among the top.

AnonD-807890, 02 Feb 2023If it's a gaming phone, then sure. The fan on the Red ... moreS22s also dealt with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 which was even worse than the 888 in overheating and throttling. Everything from the 8+ Gen 1 and later seems to be more efficient and run cooler thanks to TSMC.

The lowly S23 intrigues me. I can trade in an older Galaxy S model in any condition and get it free from AT&T, am I hearing this right? Grab an S3, S4, or S5 for $30 from OfferUp. We'll be stuck using AT&T for 3 years but I was moving there anyway since they accept ACP.

People be saying the Xperia 5 III and V are so compact when it's 10 mm taller than the S22 and S23. True, the Xperias do have microSD slot and headphone jack. But they also came with Snap 8 Gen 1 and were known to run extremely hot.

The S23 intrigues me because of that overclocked Snap 8 Gen 2 while still gaining 30% better battery life. The S22 got 16-hour video playback. The S23 should cross 20 hour thanks to the far more efficient chip, 200 mAh bigger battery, and bigger cooling chamber.

I'm tired having all my phones giving me less than 5 or 8 hours SOT. Most of them have small batteries because they happen to be smaller phone. Only my iPhone SE 2022 can cross over 12 hours consistently from Wi-Fi browsing having that A15 chip.

Battery life has been improving recently thanks to the A15, A16, Snap 8+ Gen 1, and Gen 2 chips. It's becoming more common to see over 16+ hours for browsing the web and video playback. Look at the Red Magic 8 Pro. That's fantastic battery life from a gaming phone.

The fan on the Red Magic 8 Pro is engineering overkill IMO (it's awesome but no IP rating? come on) but it's worth advertising. ZTE is flexing that feature all day long.

With the S23 series it really does seem like Samsung is trying its best to assure people that it won't suffer the same thermal issues like the S22s. They're worried about customers like me who would rather wait a month or two to see what's really up with these new phones before spending a small fortune on one.

Played with a s23 today in a store. Indeed, it doesn't get hot anymore, I tried the same stuff I tried last year on the s22, that is opening all the apps one after the other and no problem, just warm. Similar to my s20 snapdragon 865.

hmm, 02 Feb 2023Are we now in the samsung news spam time frame ? Like cant ... moreI mean look at the daily interest table on the left... GSMA wouldn't rig those.

Ppl are going nuts over these phones that launched just a day ago, so obviously news outlets will dissect the press release to bits and constantly post about it. These websites are businesses after all, we are the customers.

Plus, SD8G2 proves itself to be more efficient and capable of performing under heavy tasks based on the reviews like the OP 11, 13 and iQOO 11.

The question is does this really improve cooling for a mobile phone a vapour chamber is useless if heat transfers nowhere it may be just a marketing gimmick.

IpsDisplay, 02 Feb 2023I used the word Chinese brands.. brands is pluralized...Correct term should be gaming phones, because majority of Chinese flagship phones dont have fan but gaming phones from Usa, Taiwan, China etc have fan.

And they keep blaming the 4g/5g technology here in Scandinavia. They even claim that their choices are made out from votes between Samsung users, which is another lie.
