which country models are facing this death issue ?
I know 5-6 of my friends who bought the Xperia Z with me and no one is facing any issue.
We all are extremely happy with the performance.
We all are using Japan model by the way.
I read some comments about poor camera quality, I think they must have used front camera, try using rear camera with proper settings, the camera quality is the best, I have ever seen in any smartphone !!!

so much for the flagship.
In today's time you spend on a flagship mobile and you find it dead the other day!
Really pity.

It seems the brand new Xperia Z is suffering from similar problems as the Xperia V, which was only released in December 2012. Is it possible then that either Sony is incapable of producing technically advanced phones that have been checked and work properly, free of bugs and battery problems? It certainly seems so.
Check out the problems with the Xperia V on the following link, particularly the 'Random freeze in Standby' issues (often referred to as 'SOD' or 'Sleep of Death'), for which there is still no solution (finally now confirmed after over a month and a long-term campaign to force SOny to reply to its customers).
If you get no joy from Sony Mobile here then try 'direct messaging' then on the Sony Mobile Facebook page for your own country, and get a refernce number and the name of the person you speak to. Keep a record of all communication with the company.
If that doesn't work and Sony will not refund your money for another sub-standard product then I suggest you send a copy of everything to various Tech and mobile phone magazines and ask themn to take up the case for you. Sony will not do this as they wish to keep problems quiet (on here) and away from the attention of the public and media, so you may have to force their hand! Try things like GSM Arena, CNet, TechCrunch, What Mobile, Mobile Gazette, Mobile Choice, and any others you can find (do a search for 'mobile phones' on Twitter for instance).
Frankly I would insist on your money back if your phone does not work without problems. The Xperia Z is after all a new phone and Sony's flagship.
Good luck Sony... I think you are going to need it!

It's not true that it fixes the sudden-death issue. Some users have reported having the the issue even after installing the fix.

OMG... just read GSMArena review compairing both HTC Butterfly and Sony Xperia Z. Sony are a distant second in screen quality? Battery life also at worse when watching video. I can imagine if using 3/4G data connection watching online video steaming for soap drama shows, it will go around 3hrs. That is bad. Bye-bye and better luck next time Sony.

Initially Sony Xperia Z look so promising but now it turned out to be more issues. Issues are fine with me, as long as it's not deadly.
To me, the sceen was the biggest issue that refrain me from buying it. e-IPS or LTPS screen it's like a failure be it a supply from JDC or Sharp its's still a failure to me. To me it look more like an old TN TFT-LCD screen. The contrast dropped badly especially view from the side, all colors look whitely coated now. Probably it's the typical TFT-LCD backlight leakage issue.
It turned-out to be true. Just read a Chinese website PCOnline, they've uses Konica-Minolta CS-200 Luminance and color meter measuring Xperia Z screen are with Black level = 0.61cd/m, a not so good result comparing to HTC Butterfly at 0.31cd/m, OPPO Find5 at 0.42cd/m.
Look like Samsung and HTC flagship are equipped with better screen than Sony flagship.

I am a fella indeed.
Yes I could not agree more. It is always easy to pass judgement out of jealousy or desire. If any one spoke badly about this phone then its probably that they have not invested time to get to know the device.
Regarding dead pixels, it seems i have one during boot but once fully booted and running its fine. It probably isnt a dead pixel, just software issue.
I've loaded my 32gb SD with apps and they all run fine. Try a class 10 SD card as there are some cheap ones out there that are just bad quality.
Took me a while to get use to the device and it isnt a slick as iOS in terms of user animation however there is only 0.01% lag.
Anyway, I havent received this update yet, I'm actually anticipating 4.2.2 and 5.0.
Please spend time with this phone before making silly comments. This years flagship battle goes to Sony. S4 is an S3S and no waterproof. HTC one is a hybrid of iPhone 5 with no waterproof. Apple wil release a 5S which we all know its just gonna be better internals. There are no other major competition - OPPO Find 5 was actually on top of my wish list until Xperia Z was announced, on paper they are very similar but waterproof feature is really handy, you would have thought all the other manufacturers would have went down the same route.
Guess its till next years guys.
