ASUS offering replacement for bricked PadFone 2

25 March, 2013
Problem seems to be limited to Taiwanese devices, although ASUS is replacing them for free.

I bought mine last year & It died today too. First the tablet died a couple of months ago.(It won't connect with the fone) Now the fone won't switch on. I paid $840 for It at Techoni Technologies Sydney in April 2013 and It took a month for it to arrive. I had problems with it as soon as I got it but they refused to refund and that if I wanted the fone to be fixed i had to pay at least $100 to fix it. I went to Asus Australia & they said that its not under Australian warranty. So they refuse to fix it unless I paid for it. What a joke! I got an Asus Laptop too last year & the Dvd drive stopped reading the 1st year I bought it. So I can strongly suggest to everyone not to buy any Asus products cos all 3 products I got from them are Lemons all break within the 1st year. Whats worst is that they have pretty much zero after care or warranty support in Australia. Basically for me I threw $3000 down the drain. Thanks for nothing Asus!!!

ASUS did nothing to help me on this case. I got TWO Padfone 2 died in hands.

Until now there is no solution for this error (QHSUSB_DLOAD), the only exit is send it to Support Center and then replace the motherboard.

I've had a couple of issues with mine. Phone developed a screen fault a few weeks after I bought it (from TW) - It's almost as if there is no coating in a 1" band down the centre-left of the handset. So I sent it back, at great expense via the store I bought it from, it was away 38 days in total (including Royal Mail taking 20 of those to get it there!) when it was returned the innards of the phone had been replaced but I got it back with the same, broken screen. A sticker in Chinese on the replacement unit simply read "Phone Dead." How on earth they missed this glaring streak of dullness on the screen I'll never know! I emailed ASUS UK, in the hope that as they are now sold in the UK I could return it to the local service centre rather than shipping it back yet again. They insisted it has to go back to TW again to be repaired or I pay approx £200 and they would replace the screen in the UK which I think is very unfair. It now seems to have bricked completely, having done exactly what's described above. It's the 1st time I've let it run completely out of charge and I can't get it back on. Tried USB, proper Asus charger, Power / Vol down to no avail. Going to be a fun call to Asus UK tomorrow. I suspect I'll get nowhere again. As a family, we own 9 Asus devices and admittedly this is the 1st one I've had any problems with but it does seem the aftersales is shockingly bad from what I've experienced thus far.

I doubt id ever buy another ASUS product. Mine got bricked this afternoon. It started glitching in the morning. But the screen went blank after i installed an app. I did the volume down and power routine, and then did a factory reset which worked for a few hours until the padfone 2 just went blank in the tablet dock. Ive decided to charge it for a few hours and then try the procedure again.

i took it to Jumbo, Emirates Mall Dubai where i Bought it and they said it might take 2 weeks. I dont have that kinda time to waste so Ive decided to call the ASUS Centre first thing in the morning and hope I get a replacement from the dubai Centre.

I really doubt Id be purchasing another ASUS product. They just suck from what Ive been reading here and other blogs online.

what's good about it? they're selling faulty devices. then when you take it back to the service center, you have to take a number and wait (mine was only about half an hour, not so bad, but still), for them to tell you it'll be 5 working days to replace the motherboard.

they don't give you a loaner phone in the meantime, so i'm just without a phone for a week or two.

                  thanks asus.

I've a PadFone 2 with QHSUSB_DLOAD error, it appears to be related to this error mentioned on article.

Contacted ASUS Support Center and let's see what they will do.

I am sorry to say that this news is not true at least at Singapore. I just come back from the service center of burn road with the black screen issue and they took it for further investigation. They are aware of the news in gsm arena but said they never received instructions from asus. I will have to come back in 5 days. I am not talking of the 3 hours waiting time.

talking about the 3 hours waiting time at the service center before speaking to someone.
I would not say that asus has the worst service but it is definitely not the best.
Another point to add is that this issue already happened to me 2 months ago (the same week I bought it) . At this time they were nice enough to change it the same day. It has not been the case this time.

The worst is that can not sell my galaxy s2 because I need a spare phone ans I don't trust asus anymore.

I am not a Samsung fan (even the contrary) but at least, it works....

this is what's great with the Asus brand .... even with their laptops they give full international warranty.

samsung warranty isn't so bad. it's just Asus is way better.

Samsung is the worst company regarding this issue. Since the Galaxy S2 series there is the eMMC-bug, bricking many S2&Note1 phones (if you did factory reset), and now with S3&Note2 there is the sudden death issue (and in many cases Samsung refused the warranty). Samsung NEVER didn't officially recognize they sold faulty phones with faulty eMMC-chips. I'm saying this neverthless i owned only Samsung smartphones (S, Note1 and now Note2, my wife has S3), but i highly disapprove what Samsung is doing. At least, Asus officially admit there is a problem and they replace the defective unit...
