Reportedly HMD are focusing on repairability with this device and have a partnership with iFixit.
Also, it is rumoured HMD are starting to move some of their manufacturing to Europe. Given the lack of European ODMs (only Gigaset manufacture in Europe), perhaps they will be manufacturing directly at their own plant? If so, I would guess they will be based in Hungary.
It is a shame if they are using the T606 as in the G21, not that it is a terrible chipset but things like antennae performance and ISP are lacking. It could be that the G22 is also using the ISOCELL JN1 sensor for the main cam again too, personally I do not like that sensor at all.
The phones are not very interesting, but the business restructuring in terms of logistics and manufacturing is. Perhaps a smart move in the long term given geopolitical instability.

From designing some of the best and the most robust phones in 2016 to completely outsourcing designing (and manufacturing, ofc), yet releasing bang-for-buck phones like 6.1, 6.1 Plus, 5.1 Plus, 7 Plus, 8.1 and 7.1 and even amazing flagships like 8, 8 Sirocco, 9 PureView in 2017/18 to having their entire line-up filled with smartphones having cheapest hardware (including SoCs) on the planet for a mid-rnage price.
That's HMD global's journey in one paragraph and it's almost vertical if drawn on a graph, using any and every metric(s)

For some reason most people here keep yelling Nokia for using a "cRaPpy LagGy" Unisoc chipset. The question is, have you even try it before?
Nahh, I'm not using a Nokia with that chipset, but Samsung. A03 has the same Unisoc T606 chipset. (I'm using the 4GB RAM variant). I've been using this phone from Android 11 until it receive it's Android 13 update this January until now, it's still smooth af and I never notices any lags when I use this phone normally. (I can expect Stock Android can run better on this phone than One UI Core tbh). It can even handle Genshin at lowest resolution very smooth.
How about the battery life? It's very great! I can use my phone for almost 2 days 1 night for a normal usage with a single charge (4% battery left). Well, if you're using your phone for a heavy game like Genshin for.. let's say 2 hours, you need to charge it again before sleep. But yeah you should got the point. The battery life is actually better than what most people think, considering it's a 12nm chip.
Idk maybe the problem with most Nokia phones nowadays are they're kinda expensive. Sometimes I think they're even more expensive than most Samsung or Realme phones.
Maybe you also can get another phone with better chipset, let's say like Helio G85 or Snapdragon 680 on Xiaomi phones. But it's on everyone preferences — you can get a better software experience on Nokia though, with less possibility of getting bugs.

I hope, HMD Global is aware that we are in 2023 now. Android 13 was launched almost 6 months back and being stock Android (without any skins and bloatware) they had enough time to test the OS. They are launching New phone in 2023 with Android 12 which will get Android 13 update in June-July 2023. As usual they will launch this phone with poor specifications like Unisoc chipset, 4G network, 4GB RAM and 64GB Internal storage, Notched display, older generation OS at mid-range price.

Just power it on and off just in order too unfreeze it

jerry, 12 Feb 2023Guys ,
Any agreement is going between HMD and Unisoc? HMD... moreIdk why
HMD choice unisoc processor again
Unisoc processor are actually Chinese made and should really be in tablets as there power efficiency is not up too standard for smartphones
Hmd global often choose old mid range or old budget hardware then installation of new lasted Android versions of too it
Trying too run modern software on such old hardware is rough like hmd global builds phone out of everyone leftovers and just stick the Nokia name tag on it
Hmd global should at least give the soc a fighting chance but they don't even do that the soc has too struggle with tiny amount of ram handle cap on top

Anonymous, 11 Feb 2023What part of them have ever been cheap ?
For G21 gsma show... moreNokia G11 have T606 and it cost same price as you mention G21 isnt for everyone but it has its uses for those who want durable phone with Stock Android (it has Alluminium frame which is rare for this price point).
At this price point there are plenty of phones with P35, G35, G37, and other soc with Cortex A53/A55 only, and its weird some people here praise them and criticise T606.
Also T606 and G80 difference isnt big, never research them but i doubt G80 can sustain that 900mhz Gpu, probably in real life difference is less than 20%,

Sin, 12 Feb 2023Unisoc T606 not the best soc yeah
Unisoc often uses a lot... moreGuys ,
Any agreement is going between HMD and Unisoc? HMD chairman and board of directors are addicted for Unisoc cpu ?. is it Unisoc manufacture the Nokia phones?. Somany latest cpu are available for Unisoc but HMD are stick with old Unisoc cpu. Latest cpu is much better than old cpu (Ex: power consumption , security , performance , fast gpu and somany good feature available).

For G21 gsma show... moreUnisoc T606 not the best soc yeah
Unisoc often uses a lot of battery life up fast also
It's compares too the mediatek p60 almost as good as this processor on nanoreview compassion
161 eur is 142 pound in the uk
This price is way too high for the Nokia g12 that is mostly sluggish phone at that
I would expect very little out of the Nokia g12 in day too day performance it's not even going be a good phone
For this kinda price many phone could be found with some bargain hunting using phone filter on every shopping site so on but with 8gb ram mediatek p60 or p70 generally good phones
Maybe G80 I don't know possible what is available in what region at what price points
Nokia own g11 can be found for often £95 107 eur with same soc often on sale
At least that's what am able find them selling for
Based of UK pricing

Oki, 11 Feb 2023I think it's time for Nokia brand to be sold to a comp... moreI kinda agree. I wanted for HMD to succeed, but now it seems to me that they don't have idea what are they doing. They are selling cheap phones that will never get popular nor take up significant portion of the market.
