mandalaphone, 28 Feb 2023Well most Huawei smartwatches last anywhere between 10 to 1... moreWell my point was why on earth none of the (more) known brands offer a smartwatch looking like an elegant watch and with a decent stamina?
Pebble did the design almost a decade back with their Round Time, but very low stamina despite the e-ink, and very few sensors. But many years back, so not bashing.
The T8 looks like a watch, is 7mm thick, got all the 'usual health stuff'. Monitoring of Sleep, Heart rate, SpO2 and even Blood Pressure, plus period and sports stuff, showing notifications etc..
With the first four active it went from 100% to 23% in three weeks!
(It even looks and feel THINNER than the 7mm, due to clever design of protrusion/profile)
I mean if a no-name brand can do it, and sell it for $35 incl shipping, why not some of the big players in exclusive materials?
They ALL only offers ugly pillboxes on a string. Some of the least bad designed being the "Huawei Band 7" all plastic.
I would MUCH rather carry the small earbuds of this monster in a 'box' in my pocket, or perhaps in a suitably designed wallet.
I see NO functionality in the currently offered smartwatches I would miss on the cheap T8!
The only thing I can think of that MIGHT be handy for some, is for tracking a run without carrying your phone with you. But honestly, how many will run, leaving the phone at home (on purpose)?
So as I guess 90%+ would bring their phone anyway why make the watches huger to hold a second GPS?
If they made them as huge as they do to hold a battery that lasted for several months, I could accept that as a (for some) sensible trade off.
But still why no decent looking ones? I mean we are not ALL kids under 20... I for one is an old f.rt that prefer things to be elegant and subtle over bling-bling 'design'. And most women I know would only wear the currently offered smartwatches during exercise and take them off afterwards because of the look and feel... And showing them the T8 they suddenly get more interested in the smartwatch concept...
So there certainly should be a market for decent looking smart watches.

EskeRahn, 21 Feb 2023Well I guess we should be pleased that it is only earplugs ... moreWell most Huawei smartwatches last anywhere between 10 to 14 days on a single charge - depends on the screen and battery size. Simple math, the more functions you try to shove in a smartwatch the less its battery lasts.
Would you rather be inspector gadget for 5 hours or have a decent smartwatch for two weeks?

I simply can not understand why practically ALL smartwatch makers produce these huge monsters, with poor stamina. It is NOT that it is a technical limitation. As I posted in other threads the T8 from Azhuo (that I never had heard of before) produces a MUCH slimmer smartwatch that lasts me over three WEEKS on a single charge. And selling for around $35.
So why on earth do the more known brands not make something similar??
I would gladly pay say 5-10 times this to get one from a known brand with better software and more support.
Here my blah blah on the T8 : https://eskerahn.dk/?p=4941

So at the least they got an excuse for the horrible pillbox on a string design, as this is literally what it is with the two pills.
IMHO they should rather have left the watch half the thickness or less, and kept the pills separate.

The watch is too thick and the earbuds look ugly and uncomfortable. They are shaped like old earplugs. I would prefer earbuds that look a little more modern and have a slimmer profile.
