Parallels Desktop can now run Windows 11 on Apple silicon powered Macs

17 February 2023
This allows users to run Windows-only software but also enables them to run Android thanks to the native support from Windows 11.

B52, 17 Feb 2023I can run Win11 ARM on PD17 very nicely. What is the actu... moreNothing of great interest, back in the days of Intel-powered Macs the idea was to use Bootcamp to run Windows natively and have access to a greater library of Windows-only apps (usually video games, but not only), but with ARM computers (running Windows or macOS or Linux) it doesn't matter because none of them have discrete GPUs for gaming.

The 2019 MBP 16inch, with the AMD dGPU, is basically what I would recommend.
It's a pretty good laptop by today's standards, having one of the best trackpad, keyboard, battery, speakers, mic, display, build quality, cooling and webcam. The CPU is good, and GPU is passable in terms of performance.

It pairs well when you use BootCamp to natively run Windows10 Pro (x86-64) on it. Obviously it can dualboot with Macintosh, with OS X 10.14 Mojave being the best version despite its age. Not to mention that most Linux Distributions can also work.

But then you compare it to the likes of a 2021 MacBook Pro 16inch (M1X) laptop.
On the outside they look fairly similar, but, well there's just no comparison. The new macOS 13 software is efficient, the hardware is fast, the thermals are best-in-world, and the battery life has doubled. Not to mention the return of the F-buttons, various ports, and smaller upgrades all-round. However, what you give up here is legacy software (Windows, Linux, OS X, 32bit, etc etc) are basically gone. There's no BootCamp. And even the likes of Virtual Machines or Emulation are not a good option with the ARM processor. For many people this is a worthwhile tradeoff, but just as many people it is not.

I guess the best of both worlds would be to have an Apple-Silicon MacBook and a separate Windows machine. Just like how it's beneficial to have both an iOS device and an Android device. You can cover each platform's weaknesses by owning both.

According to that MacOS (and iOS and iPadOS) only allowed to run on Apple hardware. Makes emulation and development a massive pain since you can only develop for Apple platforms on Apple products.

So, no. This is not new by any means.

Or a person uses 60% of macOs and 40% of windows or just wants the design of macbooks or the power of a Mac studio

These are the kind of things I like to hear

A vice versa version should be made- macOs on windows.
                            Maybe it already exists

But It would be hard because of Apples strict licensing
