An0n, 21 Feb 2023Nah, probably it's fine physically, but you won't... moreWell the new owner very likely didn't buy it to use it but rather to just keep it as a souvenir

Like old objects go up in price because of its vintage appeal

Koishi Komeiji, 21 Feb 2023imagine bought this sealed iPhone First Generation for $63k... moreNah, probably it's fine physically, but you won't be able to use it. There's a lot of stories already when people try to activate old iPhone 6 in late days, it won't boot because it's obsolete. Must be quite similar experience to this first iPhone. Battery is most likely busted too, have to change it first.

Anonymous, 20 Feb 2023How rude must you be to not only not open a gift given to y... moreYou can do whatever you want with something gifted to you.

And the phone didn’t work for the carrier they used. If anything, the rude one was the person who bought a phone for a different carrier and network.

[deleted post]Very easy to avoid that. Buy a phone you want not a phone that people say it is cool.

[deleted post]Yes because we just know the party that purchased it is an ‘Apple fanboy’ and not just a collector, of course.

Talking about brain diseases though, how about those that seem to be perpetually p*ss*d off by all things Apple eh 🤔

Anonymous, 20 Feb 2023Not only is the battery dead, but it's likely to be in... moreThe buyer is not opening the box. Will sell it 10 to 20 years from now for higher than what they got it for.

This hobby is usually collecting old, useless junk and making lots of money for it in 20 to 30 years while they are still factory-sealed. At least iPhones holds up better than orginal Air Jordans.

People spend thousands on original Air Jordan 1s that's already yellowed and breaking off from the glue. How about the NES game, Stadium Events, sell for $41K back in the day? The person who buy it isn't going to open it. Hr, she, or them will probably store it somewhere and sell it for even higher 10 to 20 years from now.

IpsDisplay, 20 Feb 2023Your contradicting your self you can't imply rarity ... moreYes not every phone
They have to be discontinued before you can profit from them
