I guess the games be overpriced and the customer lose as always Nintendo & Microsoft are not know for being good that's for sure

Anonymous, 23 Feb 2023You missed the whole point of the Switch being a portable c... moreThe Switch isn't a pocketable console. Nintendo themselves marketed it as a "hybrid" console. It is incapable and underpowered compared to the likes of XsS, PS4 Pro, and XB1.

Yet, the Switch feels capable and powerful when compared to the likes of the new3DS, 3DS and DS. But those handhelds were only ever competing against the PS Vita, PSP Brite, and PSP. They were never competing against the likes of the PS3, Xbox 360, or the Xbox.

So if it's Nintendo who is vying for the attention of AAA-Developers from the likes of the PS4, then it is Nintendo themselves who are making the comparison of their "hybrid console" to the Home Consoles. The ironic part is that it wasn't impossible, in Q1 2016, the Xiaomi 5 flagship was released cheaper than the Nintendo Switch, with a higher quality display, good cameras, storage, memory, and a much faster processor. So it wasn't impossible for Nintendo to release the Switch better. They should have gone with +14nm-TSMC, 8x Cortex-A73, 8GB RAM, and 64GB storage... then a Custom iGPU on top. Knowing the technical specifications it was possible for the Nintendo Switch to outperform the PS4, which would've made ports easier and viable, and would've given developers the confidence in the platform.

Okay... but what about the (XsS, PS5, XSX) new-gen consoles?
They could have followed up with a competitive offering. Something like 5nm-TSMC, 8x Cortex-A78, 16GB RAM, 512GB storage, and the same iGPU as before. Let's call this the "Super Switch". But then you place it in the "Super Dock" and suddenly it Fast Charges it, has Active Cooling, overclocks the CPU, and enables the eGPU function to remain competitive. That would be the smart way around this.

    But Now?
They have a bad reputation and relationship with Developers. Those large companies would love for their games to run on Nintendo's handheld, just as long as it's streamed from the Cloud, in a monthly subscription service. That's a more viable option for them, and it's what Microsoft might make an agreement with them.

Anonymous, 22 Feb 2023Microsoft always just brings up COD, well I'm worried ... moreIt's a nature of contracts to have specific periods. Also, do you even know Call of Duty games? What Call of Duty game takes 5 years to develop?

Dometalican, 21 Feb 2023I mean, The Witcher 3 and Elden Scrolls seem to do fine on ... moreThose are more the exception than the rule.

If you really want to know the capabilities of Nintendo Switch compared to other platforms look at BioShock Infinite. Compare it's graphical fidelity with the original version on the Xbox 360 (from 2005), then the Remaster on the Xbox One (from 2013) and Xbox One X (2018), then the Port to the Nintendo Switch (from 2017).

Based on that test, if we were to give the Xbox 360 as score of 100 points, the Xbox One would achieve somewhere around 500 points, and the Xbox One X would score around 700 points. Whilst the impressive port on the Switch would only muster a score of 200 points. Ergo Nintendo released a console in 2017 that is competitive with a console from 2005, that's how far behind they were... now there's the Xbox Series S, the PS5, and the mighty Xbox Series X, so they are absurdly behind in terms of speed and capabilities. No wonder the AAA-Title Studios don't care to even try to port. It would be like comparing an iPhone 6 Plus to an iPhone 14Max, or comparing a Samsung S5 (Exynos 5433) to a Samsung S22 (Exynos 2200), or comparing a Sony Xperia Z5p (QSD 810) to a Sony Xperia 5 mk V (QC 8g2)... but in these comparisons the phones are actually closer to each other in terms of capabilities.
