Samsung details Exynos 1380 chipset

23 February 2023
It's expected to debut in a Galaxy A54 soon.

1280 cannot play 4K video, just try 4K YouTube video, the resolution option only shows 1080p max. If you try to play H.265 4K from SD card or network storage it will stutter, lag and shows lots of artifacts. I wonder if 1380 will have the same problem.

I really wish Samsung would stop making Exynos chips as they are just a waste of perfectly good sand. I bought a S23 Ultra at launch when i found out that it is only sold with a Snapdragon chip! And i have to say that it puts my old Note 10+ exynos to shame in performance and especially in Battery life!

Anonymous, 23 Feb 2023No the 780 has only been in one device and that one does 35... moreOk, convincing, but we're talking about out of box features, not forced.

Snapdragon 855 is supported for 4K120 and most phones do 4K60.

The 765 is supported for 4K60, but as usual, most phones actually do 4K30. Now, how do you force it is a different matter though, because last time I checked, even Open Camera is not able to help. Back in 2016, it helped SD625 enabled Redmi Note 4 to do 4K video, but newer phones, nope.

Plus, one big factor is money.
Its cheaper to get a SD855+ or SD865 phone than any of these upper mid rangers, simply because these are new phones, inflated due to R&D recovery and all.
Now, a SD 865 phone costing $350 is still better than most of these, right?

Also with that super-high 2.85GHz max clock, these two A715 cores could perform tasks faster while consuming a bit more power, making it counter-intuitively more efficient. But we have to wait till an actual device use it.

Samsung please do a favor to human mankind by stop making exynos chip for phones. That would be biggest gift from Samsung in last 3-4 years as they are not bringing anything eye-popping changes to their phones more or less changing names 20,21,22,23 with years.

P C M, 23 Feb 2023Exynos will have better multicore performance than Dimensity 7200doubt. Dimensity 7200 uses TSMC's 4nm process. Exynos 1380 apparently Samsung's worse 5nm process. Also, Dimensity is using two very high clocked P-cores.
Due to six E-Cores, the Dimensity will ensure long battery life.

On the GPU side, Dimensity is using the newer and far better Mali G610, where Samsung should clearly have brought a newer and better architecture, like the same Mali G610 or Xclipse.
