It has an almost equal CPU, a... moreNo the 780 has only been in one device and that one does 35 in car Scene which, at a 2400x1080p resolution is one of the higher scores from a Snapdragon 855. It beats the Snapdragon 855 in cpu, and it destroys it in battery efficiency. Plus it has an integrated 5g modem. And many newer technologies that were not included in the 855. And you can force enable 4k60 without any problems as Google force enabled 4k60 on a Snapdragon 765 which is much weaker.

      It has an almost equal CPU, and a stronger GPU, and that basically makes it the stronger chipset overall.
      And with video recording (obviously artificially) capped at 4K30, do you think SD780 is considerable against 855?

      Are you taking power consumption in the equation too? Because then yes, SD780 zooms ahead significantly.

Planned Obsolescence is toda... moredepends, nokia x30 has 695 1080p60 or whatever, new big cores can be stronger than older 4xa78, also 695 has a76 and those snaps are going for very low power consumption example an normal a78 runs at 2.4 an weaker one runs at 2.2 and in some snapdragon can run at 2.0 for the power efficiency, snap 4 gen 1 is very nice its basicly 480 or 695 but 2xa78 instead of 2xa76

                    D7200 is 2nd gen 4nm TSMC with newer core 2x A715 clocked at 2.8Ghz + 6x A510 meaning it's even better than SD7 gen1 .
                    & you said E1380 will do better (which is false) with 5nm samsung fab equiv to 7nm TSMC with older core μArch 4x A78 clocked at 2.4Ghz which is even slower than SD782G

                      The A54 will be almost a $500 phone but it won't be as fast as the 778G yet.. Even the Pixel 6A has already hit over 700K AnTuTu.

                          Planned Obsolescence is today's trend, and this means we're seeing deliberately crippled hardware. Snapdragon 695 phones only doing 1080p30 (chipset allows 1080p60 but who cares?) and this Exynos doing only 4K30 are some big examples.
                          No Wifi 6 either, and they're shoving some AI down our throats but hey, who asked for it?

                          Meanwhile, years old Snapdragon 845 does 4K60 with also some real good audio recording, plus some very usable slow motion modes.
                          Poco F1 using SD 845 went for as low as $150 in its last days, for this price, it was pure gold.

                            No wifi 6? Boo.
