The one feature that put CAT on the radar was the extended sensor range, eg thermal. They just gimped performance vs the Chinese phones. Without thermal, this is just another rugged phone that should go from 200 to $300, no more. CAT has left the Thermal phone market to DOOGEE and Ulefone. The only way I had to upgrade my thermal camera phone was to buy from Chinese manufacturers-America left the field. Great going America. I really was hoping CAT would see the DOOGEE V20 Pro and step up their game.

Cat is an awesome brand for trades engineers.Ive waited so long for an S62 upgrade just to fid out they're not gonna make a new mobile with thermal imaging.I use my S62 everyday for my trade in HVAC and its amazing, but its now getting slow.Looks like my only option would be to replace this S62 with a new S62.

I've had the s61 brilliant phone for my uses and failed after five years, my fault though. Got the s62 and again suits my uses love the thermal imaging camera, disappointed they dropped it on the s75 personally as a sailor thermal imaging and satellite texting for so little is good, but how much will the satellite monthly fee be after the first 12 months

        all sounds very nice but.....
I doubt about CAT SW update. Hardware is not bad but they neglect SW part

I understand that Satellite communication is expensive... But $25/mo for 400 texts/mo? Isn't Starlink like $100/mo for hundreds of gigs of data? I'd expect at least a $50/mo plan for a couple gigs of data...

IQ200, 25 Feb 2023You're missing the point of certificate in the first p... moreMan about the rest no matter the brand chinese, american, india, veitnamese, korean etc IPXX rating is useless gimmick not worth to have.
Usefull features are fine to have but only when we talka bout usefull features.
First company which includes water damage into the warranty no matter the brand i will say its an usefull feature.
Since this will never happen unless my company will start making own phones which will be 100% waterproof like submarine.
But since absolutely no company right now gives water damage warranty we speak about useless feature and costly gimmick.
              Many things matters for me.
Mostly price because every unknown chinese phone maker can make device for 2000 or even 5000 euros and put every possible feature inside the phone.
If made by Apple or Samsung for example some people would buy.
If Dooge, Oukitel or Cubot for example make 5000 eur phone with all possible features packed inside noone will buy because its expensive even if they promise 10 years of updates.
But no company yet managed to packed all or most advanced features into the phone and reduced the final price to a very afordable level for example under 800.

Its always like casino and the ruleta when you go all in on a first bet you either hit the correct number or loose everything.
This is the same. There is no piece of mind because noone can guarantee you that your phone survives first swim in bowl.

AnonD-731363, 24 Feb 2023Same tricks as Moto Defy still useless costly gimmick calle... moreYou're missing the point of certificate in the first place. Your argument for IP certificates is like: "There is no phone which can resist throwing into a wall but if you ware a $2 case you be much safer."

The point of those certificates is to have at least some peace of mind if your phone gets wet or dunk into water. It's not meant for shooting pics and videos underwater. $2 case is better only if you're planning to go shoot under water but when the accident happens then what?

It's kinda strange that you never mentioning pointless IP certificates when you talk about chinese brands. You bring that same repeating argument only when it's time to bash some non-chinese brand. How so?

Btw, CAT is selling their phones in waaaaaaay lesser volume then Motorola and everyone in bussiness knows how selling in volumes impacts pricing. Company will have less cost per device if they order bigger volume of devices to make.

That's why Sony and CAT can't have competitive pricing, but what is that means? That we shouldn't buy it? Of course not. Not every person on this planet want the most affordable phone they can get, some of them want some unique features and options. When you're comparing two devices, only thing you watch is the chipset, charging speeds and the price which is fine. To each to their own, right? Right. So those special features and options you can't find anywhere and some people are willing to pay more for that extra something. It's perfectly understanding right? Right.

Anyways, I would like to hear something from you about all mentioned things above.

Have a nice and fulfilled day!

And the company would cheerfully pay a mere €6 a month - probably more like the €60 rate.
There's also lots of field scientists who could use one. A lot cheaper than a satellite phone.

Same tricks as Moto Defy still useless costly gimmick called IPXX rating. Since no phone is waterproof only water resistant they are nothing but garbage costly gimmick feature.
Any waterproof case bought on alliexpress does a lot better job than this.
And even a low cost phone just like Infinix smart 7 for 80 euros can withstand few rain drops.
As long as companies does not plan include water damage into regular warranty this IPXX gimmick is not worth to have because phone is not water proof just water resistant.
