I mean, what good is all the powerful hardware when software on top is slightly above average at best. And this is coming from someone who likes idea behind MIUI, but I just hate its annoying things that it does and it's filled with these tiny annoying things, down to basic stuff like why the hell is their clock/weather widget so oversized with empty space for absolutely no logical reason? Or why weather widget, despite requiring location tracking cannot tell me about weather at any location I'm currently at? It just doesn't switch locations or cities and you need to manually do it. And there is just soooo many such tiny things that really got on my nerves that I can't think of anymore, but I know I've sent feedback on all of it and all they did was tell me to join their preview software channel. For things I surely reported years ago and they never fixed them. Just disappointing and proof how Xiaomi still doesn't belong to a 4 digit price range no matter how much they hype the specs and cameras and everything when they can't even get basics like their own widgets done right. Freaking widgets.

SShock, 26 Feb 2023Everyone thinks they can charge whatever just because they ... moreXiaomi already has the firsr tier of what makes a good smartphone brand - powerful hardware.
Second tier - good software, Xiaomi is still developing in this regard.
Third tier - reliability + integration with other products (ie an ecosystem). So far, the only brands that have attained this tier is Apple, Samsung recently and arguably Google Pixel.
Xiaomi sadly is not here yet, and is why their brand image is low. Which is why these 13s won't sell well in Europe for huge price.

X-pert, 26 Feb 20231399 Euros? Aint you famous for affordable flagships? What ... moreEveryone thinks they can charge whatever just because they have big specs on paper. Somehow they don't realize that's not how things work. You also need to have some sort of high standards and most Chinese companies just don't have them and it's usually just a software side of things or their shoddy QA just because they make so many bloody devices that they simply can't keep track. Meanwhile Apple has like 5 very much identical devices every year and that's about it. Xiaomi probably released 10x as many models in same time across their Xiaomi/Redmi/Poco brands. Samsung is a bit of an odd one where they still release quite a lot of phones every year, but they still keep them in check despite the number. It's why they are generally regarded as better, at least in software side of things, even if they aren't better on paper with specs which is how most people end discussions here with "yeah but Chinese brand X has such and such display and chipset for less money". Yeah, we all know why.

SShock, 26 Feb 2023For that money you get Galaxy S23 Ultra in 12GB RAM version... moreExactly this!
I can tolerate mediocre software when i paid £210 for Xiaomi , there have to be short cuts for that price, but at these prices its a no to such buggy software with slow updates.

I love that little moment after the price announcement, when the audience is too shocked to remember ther are supposed to applaud every word coming from the stage :D
The design, form factor and battery life of Xiaomi 13 look all lovely to me but at this price I'm staying with my Pixel 5. If I was desperate to get a new phone, then other than battery I don't see why I'd pick it over similarly priced (or perhaps even cheaper) S23 - and S23 battery, while not as good, might just be good enough.

Goddamn... They just hit us with a f**king Google Photos storage ad in the announcement.
On top of how annoying and stupid it was, the thought on my mind was 'long live expandable storage'.

LV426, 26 Feb 20231300 eur middle europe. Crazy... 500eur more than chinesse ... moreFor that money you get Galaxy S23 Ultra in 12GB RAM version with 512GB of storage. Who in their mind would pick Xiaomi over Samsung? Or even iPhone? I don't care what kind of specs they throw at the thing, it's just not polished the same, doesn't have software support on same level, doesn't have tech support on same level and it just doesn't work as well as they are full of glitches. Small ones, but it's constantly "something" that gets on your nerves and when you're paying this much, you expect better.
And Xiaomi keeps forgetting that. When their phones are selling for 500€, people look away or dismiss the issues. When you are paying 1300€, you expect near perfection in ALL areas. And Xiaomi just doesn't have that. One day maybe, but still not today.
