Will be interesting to see how A54 compares to pixel 6a in best midranges. I still think pixel will win in camera and processing power. Screen and battery life will be advantages of A54. Will wait for reviews to decide

Custom roms exist. You also get Google Play security updates, which covers a lot and you will still get security patches for a while. Higher versions of Android have shown to just get worse in my opinion. Material You in Android 12, Locking down scoped storage again in Android 13, and now more freedom out of your phone unless you have a computer to sideload older apps on Android 14, which will probably affect more and more apps as new Android versions come out.

Android 12 is about to become less popular than Android 11. When was the last time something like that happened? Something is wrong here. I wonder what it could possibly be?

Pretty sure there was a mistake in the article, all the leaks point at the A54 having a 12MP ultrawide and 5MP macro camera, while the A34 will 8MP and 2MP respectively.
