Honor's latest flagship can stake its claim as the best.

Carol, 05 Mar 2023Yeah, whatever. I actually did not condamned the Honor of b... moreRight we got some big problems around here and those are "blind Nokia fanboys". The Lumia 1020 and the Magic 5 Pro only share the circular camera bump. That's it! Not the same camera alignment (and of course, not the same performance as the 5 Pro). So many other phones have a circular camera bump. The 12S Ultra, Mate 50 Pro, Honor Magic 3, 4, and 5 series... maybe the upcoming Find X6 series. So stop bringing the Lumia 1020 and most of all, stop defending Nokia like it's sacred! Nokia is dead; maybe back in the day they were innovative, but times have changed and they've remained behind

Carol, 07 Mar 2023I did not ignore the differences you listed, i did not find... moreYou are intentionally ignoring the differences. The sole basis of your claim is that both Lumia 1020 and Magic5 Pro have a circular camera bump and nothing more, which I already made a counterargument by pointing out the difference in their sizes and sensor layouts inside it. I should've also mentioned that even the sideway view of the bump is quite different, with Lumia having a trapezium one with a much smoother transition along the edges and the one on Magic feels a lot more like a "bump" by having a rigid boundary in comparison. They are both circles, that's it, and that's exactly where the similarity ends. Their back designs are distinguishably different from each other.

"You probably are to young and never experienced the times when Manufacureres actually innovated"
I've been seeing all innovations in the smartphone space since I became a tech enthusiast, thank you very much. It's quite astonishing how many unique ideas recent smartphone manufacturers managed to implement on their products, especially when it comes to camera-related features. A gimbal stabiliser, high-resolution Quad Bayer sensors, night mode processing, in-camera multi-frame RAW output, real-time HDR, experimentations with non-Bayer CFA, ML-based scene recognition and noise reduction.. Sadly Nokia (or should we just call them HMD) has been completely irrelevant in the high-end section of the smartphone market, and Huawei is slowly moving away from their phone business due to sanctions, but it's fortunate at least we have BBK, Xiaomi and Honor to carry on their imaging legacy.

Anonymous, 06 Mar 2023What for?For security purpose, for not having the issue that if I have A12 and the latest version available it's 15, to have the surprise that I can't run those apps because the android version it's old.

Even if the cameras look like the 3 holes on a coconut, I like this back design. Reminds me of Lumia designs and the recent Nokia 7.2, 5.3, 1.4, X10, C5 endi etc. The front is pretty boring though tbh.

I think Nokia should hire the same ODM that Honor and Huawei hire to make their phones to make them stand out

Nick Tegrataker, 06 Mar 2023Umm.. you're the one who is spewing nonsense while ign... moreI did not ignore the differences you listed, i did not find them to be important enough to talk about, especially because they do nothing but bringing the design in line with the new trend, while still taking advantage of the iconic look that gives off that this is a camera centric device. But nope, you are right, they really struggled to create this, i mean, they worked on it for months. From narrow bazels screen, as any device this days, to flat metal side frame, as any device this days, to 3 cameras as any device this days, to rounded corners, as any device this days. So you listed here the obvious differences that even a kid can draw while ignoring the important part; called design language, but i'm the one with an oversimplifed mindset?

Also not directly but for sure it sounds like you are talking about Lumia devices to be working like crapp, if that's the case, well that's the most ignorant claim i have ever read, those devices were more stable and faster then any android that was sold back then, hack even faster then iphones. Windows was lacking apps in comparison to google or apple, but for sure was not lacking speed.
I never said that people should chose based on beauty or design or how iconic the device is, i just stated the obvious. And when i talked about 1020 i never said that it is all about design, that phone had features that came to iphone and android 7 years later, that is why remains a legend. That is what people call innovation. You probably are to young and never experienced the times when Manufacureres actually innovated... you probably think that having an SD 8 gen 2 with 12 gb ram is pure innovation.

Carol, 06 Mar 2023Wow, big agressive words for someone that clearly has no id... moreUmm.. you're the one who is spewing nonsense while ignoring all the design differences that I pointed out. Literally the logic of your claim is:

                - Magic5 Pro has a massive circular camera bump
                - Lumia 1020 also had a massive circular camera bump
                - Oh no! They are the same phone!!!!!

And now someone with this kind of oversimplified mindset is preaching to me about how the design process works.. If this wasn't trolling, then what would be?

"If there is something to mourn, would be this one, after half a year when nobody will remember it existed"

I'm afraid most rational people choose don't choose their phones based on how memorable they are, but rather on whether they will suit their needs in real-life scenarios. It's always nice to see when a particular phone stands out in terms of design, but if it runs like crap or has severe issues with app availability at the same time, nobody would actually buy it.

But hey feel free screem here as if you'd know something instead of learning, will bring you a lot in the future.
As for "mourning" the lumia 1020, not needed but thanks for asking. The device had it's time and as any device is now retired. The difference between the two is tough that the device is a legend, and is sitting proudly on my shelf. This one? Will remain this, at today's level, a nobody with a copy paste-change here there design, and nothing new or innovative. If there is something to mourn, would be this one, after half a year when nobody will remember it existed.

This is hilarious. Are you seriously suggesting that this phone took an entire design from Lumia 1020? Let's see, I didn't know that that old phone had such narrow bezels, a curved display, a pill-shaped camera cutout, flat metal side frame with curved corners, and a glass back panel with rounded edges. Even the size of the circular bump as well as the arrangement of various sensors inside it are different - When it's significantly easier to find differences than to find similarities, you know your logic is completely screwed up..

It's fine, though, I know this year will mark the 10th anniversary of the long-gone Lumia 1020, so you can mourn for your loss as much as you want.

That's just sharpening - Misalignment of frames usually appears as ghosting, not white ringing artifacts around edges.

"Reason pixel 7 has blurry faces"
Blame the noise reduction for that, not the image-stacking algorithms.

"Frames need to be 100% equal"
For the best result, technically true, but competent stacking algorithms (e.g. HDR+) are usually capable of local alignment of multiple images.

As I have said before, not even with global shutter can do it.

Not slow sensor ( not even 20ms) is gonna do it. Reason pixel 7 has blurry faces.

Frames need to be 100% equal. No phone can do it. Not even those with built in dram cmos
