Samsung is developing its own high-end CPU cores again, wants to use them by 2027

07 March 2023
Intriguing news, considering the fact that the company's gone that route before, with not so great results.

Need a soc that does not draw to much power 7w max less heating little throttling can be managed around 7 -8w.
Atm exynos 2200 x core uses 4.5w alone before throttles instantly

Not true, samsung has responded to this rumor and said it is false.

        Here we go again.

Whatever Apple is doing is golden approach as they the ones taking 80-90% or market profit. And Samsung trying to become Apple to get that success. Samsung copies everything Apple does. No one gives a shit what Samsung supplies, the only matters is who makes the most money and that is Apple the king of mobile industry :) You mentioning Pixels, like Pixels sells millions 🤣 Google lucky enough to sell couple million. Most important parts of the phone most expensive part Apple does themselfs. Software and chipsets, rest is peanuts, except screen this is the only important part from Samsung which goes to iPhones, and it has to share with LG not 100% of it goes to Samsung

Overpriced phone prices trending thing Apple invented, removing 3.5mm jack and introducing wireless headsets again trend setting shit. Notches, now dynamic Island, satellite communication. All custom shit around iPhone and everybody copies it, your fast charging or amoled screens are peanuts for what damage Apple does with their "trends". Foldable are nothing, as soon as Apple will release one, everybody will be having foldables because they the ones who will set this trend not Samsung or not anybody else, Apple leads everybody follows, that's how it was since iPhone 1

Everyone knows, it's Samsung who invents and supplies most of technologies used by every phone maker on earth.

Pixel ? It uses 51% of samsung parts
IPhone ? It uses 20% of samsung parts
Other brand phones? They also use Samsung parts (mainly display and lenses)

Without Samsung, the number of smartphone production worldwide would be zero.👍

Samsung wouldnt be a goliath it is today if it doesn't sell to other OEMs. If Apple stopped buying display panels, Samsung's stocks would suffer catastrophic plunge.

Innovation at its best.

Samsung still copies Apple approach like rest of the market. Whatever Apple does everybody copies them and that a fact, why? Because Apple kings of mobile phones, they have been since iPhone 1. They reap the most profits in industry and they are the ones who set trends and rest just follows. Having custom chipset and custom software helps with efficiency and save money on suppliers. Samsung knows it, they better have their own chipsets when pay royalties to Qualcomm.

Bogdaan, 07 Mar 2023Oh stop it please, fanboy. Apple uses ARM and it does nethe... moreEven it is uses ARM architecture, cores are customly designed, the reason behind they were so ahead of chipset game, though last 2 years they just didin't do shit they thought they so ahead so they took A15 and called it A16 with litterly no improvement, vwell making GPU slightly worse than A15 kind of Apple move. Qualcomm used this Apple blunder and basically caught up with competition with 8 gen 2 chip. Still slightly behind in CPU performance but smashes in gpu performance A16, we never had such tight chip battle since A5 or A6 days.

Another news says they have denied developing own CPU cores. Then there's no news basically.

[deleted post]At the least we can agree on the first part.

Though it certainly is much more evolution than revolution in the whole industry. The various emerging foldables being the exception, from the dominating chocolate-bar shape, that has not changed for over a decade. And Kudos to Samsung for being part of the foldable change.

Nothing is really happening with better colour e-ink like displays good for sunshine. Replaceable batteries are seldom, 3.5mm jacks are close to extinction, glass-backs are used to increase the risk of mechanical broken phone to 200%, et cetera et cetera....

Where is the development of new UI guidelines that allow the large displays to be functional, but concentration the interaction part to the reachable 'corner', for one hand operability? (Both Android and Ios have failed to support the larger devices - the modes of shrinking the active display area to a corner of the screen is a joke, underlining not solving the issue.)

Well also remember that having the capability to produce own chips, do not mean they have to do so, but could be a powerful bargain chip in getting lower prices from Qualcomm.

                                      Samsung are trying their best.

Samsung designs and manufactures mobile chip since decades ago, even first iPhone in 2007 were using Samsung designed mobile chip.
