safin asa, 18 Mar 2023Your phone lasted more than the yota brand itself. Yes it really has its truely sad the yotaphone brand want bankrupt I have only had good experience with them and good customer service

Although the same thing can't be said about unnamed postman that yotaphone 2 broke the screen protector from as they just throw the phone though the window just for being Russian but the phone it's self survived

The smartphone still works too this day if I had of wanted too I could easily still be using the phone my only problems with it is limited storage overheating and e-ink screens being in black and white

It's most upsetting they over ordered too many e-ink screens then got sued for it supply and demand mistake In general Russian brands are the black sheep of the tech industry or missfit it's like no matter what they do people just dislike them even after
They sold too a Chinese company that also also was unable keep the brand alive as the yotaphone brand had so much potential

I honestly thought they go mainstream and be a huge success the yotaphone brand had so much potential it's one of the best brands of phone I used

There.is yandex brand that Russia has now although the being a Russian brands kinda like a curse in the tech industry too be honest or kick me sign or 5 star wanted level

I heard a friend brought a Russian phone the story goes the post man delivery purposely broke the phone

It's a common thing for example of what happens too anyone who has any kinda Russian association in the UK

      Fairphone 1 (2013) ended in 2017, nearly 4 year
      Fairphone 2 (2015) ended in 2023, nearly 7 year
      That's mean:
      Fairphone 3 (2019) ended in 2029, nearly 10 year
      Fairphone 4 (2021) ended in 2035, nearly 13 year
      That's very long.
It's not always right though, let's see in 2030.

I guess I'm a totally different user but my approach is, do minimum work on phone, keep maximum things offline, or on memory cards. Use apps that don't depend on internet.
So, even with an older, faster software, I'm more likely to remain safe, while still maintaining close to original performance.

The idea of maintaining a device with constant updates keeps those that still operate without them ending up in the landfill. I feel that updates like these help extend the lifespan of devices despite being old, even if its still the companies' responsibility of managing updates that wont hurt the operation of the device.

My Redmi 2 Prime lasted 8 years without even latest software, and reliably so, because the software update was known to cause lags and performance issues.
Can you believe I once played PUBG Lite on it, in 2017? Yes, Snapdragon 410 is what it had with 2GB RAM.

Kudos to Fairphone, wish they would launch in India with an audio oriented phone.

Still using my yotaphone 2 from this time period
On android 6 os still going ok

That's sure a lot of updates I can see of effect fairphone did here
but is it even be usable on snapdragon 800

Android 10 be insufferable unbearable & frustrating on such old hardware

As I know I only have too look at budget Nokia phones know what a bad user experience it is

So iam even happy if i get a 4-5 year old OS but it should be stable and secure.

That is why I always despise Android OEMs for keep on following Apple's footstep. Not everything they do is great or beneficial. Just look at Sony - they removed the headphone jack from their 2018 and 2019 flagship phones because they claimed for the trend of wireless audio, and yet no one ever expected to see Sony put it back and keeping it since the 2020 Xperia 1 ii. Someone at Sony must realized that following Apple's footstep to remove the headphone jack is a fatal mistake. Of course you can say that Sony also don't include charger in the box, but Fairphone has been doing thr exact same thing since their inception in 2013 and no one totally cares about until Apple started doing it. 🤦

I still adore this concept. If the screen would have been better, i'd have considered it seriously. I hope it matures further on and will definitely recheck it.

But that wasn't my main complaint, there were better chips out there already but it's serviceable. The issue is with the terrible design, software aswell as the mediocre cameras. On release there were plenty of options half the price that end up being a better choice, at that point reparability becomes an afterthought when you could just replace it and still be off cheaper in the end. It's just a very meh phone, which holds it back a lot. You want a phone you can repair yourself? You can have it, at a way higher starting cost and with specs that won't blow you away in any regard.
