You maybe right about 4MP camera will look bad if cropped, but if you think Ultrapixel is a gimmick, have you ever though of some of the software in GS4..some of it is a gimmick to...some of the user are not ready for it...One is the first to be using 4MP ultrapixel and maybe it will not go well at first try, but on next model maybe..maybe they will get bigger like 13MP ultrapixel...you never know..if you think that using new technology is a gimmick before u ever try it, then you just cant move forward with that thinking...ever think of that...all the smartphone model still using samo-samo...why don't you ever see the big picture...and im not surprise is the next galaxy will be using ultraspixel as well...then will u say its a gimmick if your favorite brand using it...what a fanboy...

Xfactor0024, 01 Apr 2013you know you just gotta hand it to Peter Chow and the Guys ... moreUltrapixel is a marketing gimmic, not a technology. The technology is a larger sensor with a larger pixel pitch. But then again, look at DSLRs, APSC has a pixel pitch roughly twice the size of that camera in HTC One. So don't go screaming "there's blood in the water". HTC camera is gaining in low light (yet to be proven), while loosing out in resolution (4mp vs 13mp).
3-5mp is generally enough for 4x6 prints or to view a pic on a monitor. But if you have to crop, you're screwed.

you know you just gotta hand it to Peter Chow and the Guys from HTC. For a company that was just started in 2006, they have built the company to be one of the most respected smart phone makers in the world among old timers like apple, samsung and nokia. Now thats real guts!!! they have always been bold in trying out new stuff which speaks alot about the company itself, hence they are now pionnering ultra pixel technology and rthis is just a start. i knw for sure that the next htc phone that has ultra pixel technology camera on it, will be even more better....

Anonymous, 01 Apr 2013It doesnt matter whos first to use it. Only who makes it be... moreHTC stated that they will release a new flagship in a year. Ergo MWC 2014. They will indeed release a phone an fall this year but it will be 5"+ as in a phablet that will compete with Note and Optimum G Pro... It's a niche market and therfore will not be THE flagship.

The first Android device was the G1 that was produced by HTC. Second the Nexus One that was produced by HTC. In my opinion HTC makes best phones around. Others just follow. Samsung took the world by means of good and expansive marketing. I don't know about you but I'm not a herd type of a person. But some people just follow the masses. It doesn't mean it's good or better. I believe in HTC and hope they reign in the Android world once again but I also give them kudos for sticking it up to Apple and Samsung. They didn't need advertising because people knew HTC was the best, ergo the quietly brilliant slogan. Like ASUS, they sell quality and that's the best advert. But times are changing and then need to step up the marketing to Remind people that they are the best because people are sheep in generally and are subdued by strong marketing tricks Apple and Samsung use to accomplish "world dominance." kudos to HTC and cheers to everybody!

And samsung is solely responsible for the popularity of android. The gs3 alone sold 50 million amd counting.... has any htc phone ever sold half that much? Hack i doubt all htc phones combined to have sold 50 million. Gs4 is gonna break records. Will easily sell well over 100M while htc one will become obsolete within a coupke of months then htc will have to come out with yet another 'flagship' htc one + ...

People don't realise that although Samsung may have "invented" some S features they are more or less just gimmicks that aren't that useful anyways. People I know including myself, don't use half of it (or more) and the features are just disabled. S voice, smart rotate, multi window... Disabled.

People don't realise HTC gave us the first Android phone, and of course first Sense phone that actually made Android useful. Android wouldn't be what it is today if it weren't for HTC and Sense UI. Others only copy it and it's features. From motion control, speed dialer to camera controls and features and so on. I'm really happy to see HTC on the rise again and I hope they take the Android throne back from Samsung. As soon as it lands in my country I intend to sell my Galaxy Note2 in favor of HTC One. The body, the screen, the sound, the UI, the camera. BlinkFeed, Zoe, BoomSound are just some of the things that make me want to have it. Cheers!

HTC One is a great device. A great phone that offers you just about everything a user needs. It's really fast, it has a beautiful UI, a gorgeous screen and a body to make others envious.
