Realme 8 Pro isn't a budget phone, it's a mid ranger. Budget is Realme C series. And please, Realme flagship? GT 2 Pro isn't real flagship, and their A13 update arrived at best was in early January, only "few" months ago. Still, it's true realme is 2nd runner-up when releasing slow updates. The winner is Xiaomi, which some of their new phones release now is still in A12.

Koishi Komeiji, 11 Mar 2023even realme UI 4.0 looks new, RAM management is still issue yet. Yes and usually noone talks about it. It's been years and Realme is not going to fix it ever. I saw in a review that in GT Neo 5 or GT3 even with 16GB RAM and only 5-6 apps in background, apps started to reload after 5 minutes of inactivity! With UI 4.0, quick multiple apps switching has been improved a lot without reloading, but only in latest devices.

About what I expected from Realme. Android 14 is just around the corner, and they're offering a beta of Android 13.
Realme needs to get their software team together. It's literally just a skin of Color OS, so the heavy lifting is being done by Oppo's software team and even then, realme takes an eternity for one Android upgrade.
It's laughable
