Wow.
That’s amazing. It’s the same degree of upgrade we saw when Qualcomm made the upgrade from the special QSD 768G+ to the lowly QSD 778. As a reference; that previous midrange could barely compete against the ancient QSD 845, with most of its variants being even slower, to a newer midrange chipset which was outperforming the QSD 855, a legendary chipset that was a heel-toe behind the then-flagship QSD 888 chipset. That was a huge upgrade for midrange, and this is the same thing happening.

It seems Dimensity chipsets were getting pretty competitive there, hence Qualcomm has stepped up. For those that didn’t understand, this is the new “flagship grade” chipset. It’s great to see this performance and efficiency for customers, as a midrange/cheaper/better value.

It should outperform an overclocked QSD 870, which I used to call “flagship grade”. All the while, this shouldn’t have any throttling issues like we saw with the QSD 888, QSD 88+, or it’s newer cousin the dreaded QC 8g1.

This is essentially the same chipset as the QC 8g1+ but it’s clocked 10% lower. RIP the Sony Xperia 5 mk IV (pretty poor thermals). I would call this superior to the standard QC 8g1, and hesitate to call the QC 8g1+ an upgrade from this... ditto for the new QC 8g2 as well. The only reason to NOT get this chipset would be because of the QC 8g3 in 2024 which is an upcoming new standard, and a huge upgrade for Android devices.

Techgeek91, 18 Mar 2023What will be the performance when compare to sd 888?It is similar with sd870/865+ , but much more efficient with battery.

If these 7+gen2 phones comes cheaper than the old 8+gen1 phones then its a win.

What will be the performance when compare to sd 888?

Digdigfig, 17 Mar 2023I seriously doubt it will be more powerful than SD888 or on... moreno they will not destroy its win for them and then what they will blame samsung fab because overheating🤑.
and user will buy this new cpu like it or not 🤑

For most people this processor will be more than enough.

Once snapdragon 778g was plenty available in many phones , but now :-( . I think company won't do like that to this processor.

                  nanorieviww already test it ..

this chip only on par with Dimen1200
                  far far cry from SnD888/+

As usual people have pay more for mid range seg.

trancemaster, 17 Mar 2023On youtube you can watch a lot of battery drain test videos... moreOn YouTube you can also watch more scientific videos, that do not just run antutu over and over and then say this phone lasts longer than that one, but actually break down the efficiency. The Geekerwan channel is by far the best in this regard, and they said something about this here https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=c1j5p4iNvRM&feature=youtu.be&t=9m8s

potato4k, 18 Mar 2023Does this matter? OEMs will just keep using SD695 anyway. Bit surprisingly, "coming to devices this month"

Digdigfig, 17 Mar 2023I seriously doubt it will be more powerful than SD888 or on... moreQualcomm's stated figures make it clear that the 7+ Gen 2 will be faster than the 888. But definitely not the 8 Gen 1.

If these phones doesnt come with head phone jack and a sdcard slot, what's the point. I'll just grab an 8 series soc.

sd 778g is almost as good as 855
so this gen2 should be as good if not better than 888
and that is a good thing after all because you don't need to waste your money paying x3 times the price to get a good phone.
for example i have a galaxy A52s for me it is a good balanced phone. it has what i need and doesn't cost a fortune, i used to buy high end but to me it doesnt matter any more i just care about battery life , decent camera and good screen ... now days you can get that really cheap

Does this matter? OEMs will just keep using SD695 anyway.

Snapdragon Gen 8 is a high end cpu, and Snapdragon Gen7 is mid range.

                                  Easily outperforms D9200.

Funny that ppl that defend mediatek, still buy phones with snapdragon instead.
