If I ever wanted an AI "enhanced" moon image out of a low-resolution photo of a round blob, I'd rather have Stable Diffusion output the image of the most beautiful-looking moon for me LMFAO. As I keep saying, the problem with the said feature is how it introduces a *specific pattern* of details to a low-resolution photo that meets certain conditions, and Samsung's explanation of it had been ambiguous until recently. The consumers were not clearly notified that the moon photos that they have taken when AI/Scene Optimiser is turned on contain details from the specific sample images used for the training of the ML algorithms.

Everyone shitted on Huawei when they introduced the moon mode (despite some websites reporting that they couldn't replicate the results from the original allegation), and I can definitely see a lot more people/tech websites defending Samsung this time around.
I'm criticising not only Samsung but also Huawei right now because Samsung's explanation in turn largely revealed what Huawei has been doing (Both companies' explanations for the moon mode are oddly similar), which was fairly ambiguous back in 2019.

In fact, its the minority buyers who know what they want in a phone.
I own LG G8x, and I know why I own it. I wanted it, because its an old flagship with the best possible audio quality in a phone, reasonable price and the super useful dual screen. I was always a music fan, having owned N91, N8, 808, all good music phones.

All of this just tells me that Samsung has put garbage cameras on the phone, which are able to take blurry pictures, then send those personal photos (which may not only be moon shots) to samsung cloud for "AI" processing, leaking information to various third parties along the way.

Does this mean that if you are past 25x zoom, the photos aren't actually real?
What happens if one of those images is used in the court of justice? Will it be considered as a real probe or they'll dismiss it ?
What happens if you see a ufo and zoom in to take photos? Will the images be different than what I actually photographed ?
I totally like AI, especially ChatGPT or StableDiffusion, but I would like this feature to be optional. Let me choose, that's all I'm asking for.

Huawei's explanation for the said feature is closely in line with Samsung's in terms of word choices, and the moon mode from both brands delivers very similar results. It's just at that time we, consumers, had little knowledge to understand what they truly meant, and now we do.
I know you're trying to say "Waaaah Samsung isn't the same as Huawei!!!", but I'm afraid it's time for you to face it - Both companies used this "AI processing" to recreate the *specific* textures of the moon that didn't exist in the original image, and the way this mode was implemented and initially described to the consumer was misleading. This shouldn't be that hard for you to understand.

Most of people tend to forget they also practizing or doing exactly similar to what they criticize.
In this case, some people criticize a "fake" photo, without realizing their phone also has that feature, or even worse they make fake photo as their profile picture. How ironic👍

It's sad to see people buying such expensive phones just to take pictures of moon. For less than that money you could get a nice telescope with goto mount and planetary camera and still have money to spend. You'll be able to photograph other planets too.

The thing is that it is possible to get much better results using a phone without resorting to anything fake/AI related. This is to allow interchangeable lens on phone. A phone with interchangeable camera lens is now highly overdue.
