Anonymous, 24 Mar 2023Why do you people keep repeating this already debunked myth... moreSamsung gives 4 OS updates and 5 years security updates for most of its phones (that means A3x, A5x, all S series and Fold/Flip, starting with year 2022). Before, they gave 3 OS updates and 4 years of security updates for similar models.
What you are saying is correct for the low-end Samsung models (that means A1x, A2x). Or for Samsung phones prior to 2020.
In comparison, Xiaomi gives 1 OS update and 2 years of security updates for their entry-level models. And 2 OS updates and 3 years of security for their mid-range models. They give 3 OS updates only to their premium models (something like the Ultra models). But those cost as much as an iPhone Pro or Samsung Ultra, so not really an advantage in my opinion.
So yeah, that is why Xiaomi numbers have gone down in Europe in the last 2 years. They kept increasing the prices, but the software support remain more or less the same. People saw this and just went to other manufacturers (like Apple or Samsung).

It's not manufacturer's problem that you don't have money.

Thing came with AMOLED screen, no notch, had headphone jack, one of best midrange chips at the time, premium materials (glass back, aluminium frame), great battery life and pretty good camera+telephoto.

If I wanted something equivalent to that today, I would need to spend at minimum twice as much, and even that's being generous, I probably would need to buy a flagship.......

Xiaomi peaked in 2019/2020 and that's that, and they have been on decline since Mi 11 Ultra, and it's sad, I like this brand, but if they don't get their heads straight I guess I will be switching to somebody else in 3-4 years.

I could literally for 200 euros more buy iPhone 13 Mini, get better 90% of the features and still have longer OS support.

Redmi device costing 500 euros and honestly not being a good value

I remember the days, few years ago, when Redmi Note series would offer specs you would see on phones that costed 1.5-2 times more, when they dominated budget and lower midrange with their value

You are better off buying a 2022 phone for that price, you will get better stuff

Both O2, T-Mobile and Vodafone will give you cheap redmi devices for 1 CZK (0.042€/0.045$) with 2 year contract. Nobody in Europe wants Chinese phones anymore. In year 2020, realme had here 220% grown over the year and now? Realme and Oppo packed their shits this year and run away from here. For 11 990 CZK (506€/546$) give you Galaxy A54, Redmi Note 12 Pro+, Xiaomi 13 Lite, OnePlus Nord 2T and vivo v25 (which is sold here as X80 Lite). So what will you choose? Samsung just wins. People here are leaving chinese brands and go with Apple, Samsung and sometimes Pixels. People care more and more about updates and longevity and less about specs. Midrange phones are enough powerful for most of people.

Why does Xiaomi keep bringing old version of Android into their new note series? And it will take ages to get update, abd the update won't be stable. This price would get a Samsung s21 with android 14 update

The only way they're spreading in Europe is through phone carriers who will offer it for free in exchange for a 2 year contract.
Main users are kids under the age of 10 and people with zero technical knowledge from the rural areas .
99% of the people from Europe will only buy Samsung/Apple.
To be honest, I wouldn't use one even if you would pay me daily !

                        Greetings from Europe.
Quality over quantity every time !

no wonder apple is on the rise, with all these high prices for these cheap palstic shit phones, of course i'd rather buy a top of the line iphone!

Furkan, 23 Mar 2023500 euros is okayLol, for what? 2 years of software support and security updates each 3-6 months? Not to mention they come with Android 12 out of the box. So this phones will not see anything above Android 14. They are doing the same thing like last year.
I don't understand why people will still buy Redmi and Poco phones, especially in global markets.
The only thing good in this Chinese phones is the super fast charging and the fact they give it in the box.

Prices for all goods went high during last year. It may not apply to all the same way but it can't be denied. (pretty noticable in Europe, where I be) Why woud phones be exception, then? Simply gotta expect they're somewhat pricier than previously. Plus Xiaomi isn't new any more to be supercheap, minus some price drop and in the end, you get prices comparable for 2023 phones. Juat compare with other phones and choose what's best for ya'll.(yet country dependant)

The best model 200MP cam highlight (or gimmick -?), rare in midrange also shouldn't be forgotten. If the price is too much though, forget that one cause it's not worth it imho.

They do receive software updates, and for Redmi Notes the update period are not that far off from other OEMs.

Samsung give 2 OS and 4 years quarterly security updates to most of its phones, while Redmi Note receive 2 OS and 3 years quarterly security updates. I personally used Redmi Note 8 for a while and it received 2 OS updates from Android 9 to 11.
