I've tried p60pro today. The periscope diameter looks not big. The 3.5x is marginly better than p50pro but nothing groundbreaking. It's not as good as mi10u at 5x but better at 10x.

Variable aperture, brightest tele, something pro photographers will love. Also something you would expect more from Sony, but they are not even on hi res tech.

I think they did a big mistake regarding the size.
They could do a very nice smaller P60.

For example the P30 or the P40 have perfect sizes.
I hate phablets and I I hink I will go somewhere else.

Huawei should bring back normal sized phones!

Nick Tegrataker, 24 Mar 2023So (assuming that this rumour is correct) the inclusion of ... moreAnd even if the sensor was smaller (if Huawei's 178% more statement is misleading/wrong), this logic wouldn't make sense at all because it would still capture much more light per time than previously, it doesn't need a different color filter for that.

Nick Tegrataker, 24 Mar 2023So (assuming that this rumour is correct) the inclusion of ... moreHuawei's official website states that the aperture (!) "takes in 178% more light" , "Compared to HUAWEI P50 Pro."
178% more means 278% as much. Unless Huawei is extremely (!) misleading here, this clearly means that the sensor area is the same as before.

The total amount of light per time that goes through the effective aperture diameter and hits the sensor in relationship to the P50 Pro's periscope can be approximately calculated by (old f-number / new f-number)² * (new sensor area / old sensor area). So the equation is 2.78 = (3.5/2.1)² * (new sensor area / old sensor area) , so (new sensor area / old sensor area) = 1.
Also note that Huawei's "178% more" statement is about the aperture, the color filter array doesn't influence the amount of light that goes through the aperture.

As the field of view is the same (90mm) as previously, the following equation must be true as well: (new focal length / old focal length)² * (old f-number / new f-number)² = 2.78 , so (new focal length / old focal length) = 1, this means that the sensor size is the same.

But I assume that Huawei's statement isn't extremely misleading / wrong. But if Huawei's statement is correct, then the sensor size is the same as previously.

Anonymous, 24 Mar 2023The p60pro telephoto cmos is RYYB and bring 40% more light ... moreThat's wrong. Huawei's website is talking about the aperture, which has nothing to do with the color filter array. And even then, when you assume 40% more for the color filter array, then it would have to be 2.78 = (3.5/2.1)² * (color filter advantage) * (new sensor area / old sensor area) , so (new sensor area / old sensor area) would have to be 1/1.4 = 0.71 , but as I said, the color filter array doesn't influence the aperture, so (new sensor area / old sensor area) = 1

Still, the aperture size should be very large for a periscope lens, though.

don't bother to sell worldwide. it has no chance to compete with this ridiculous prices. it's worth is much less outside China, pro model must be around $800 max. huawei's place is definitely below samsung and apple so, p60 pro cannot enter galaxy s23+ and iphone 14 plus territory.
