Until the day will come, when something like that will be feasible, I think neither phones or tablets will disappear (in the way they are now).

Leanzazzy, 05 Apr 2023Tablets have long lost their place. They're way too bi... moreI've been using them as a replacement to laptops for a decade plus. Get that weak sh!t outta there.

And yeah, they are not as mobile as phones which js why you do not carry them jn your backpocket. That's not their intended use.

Btw if tablets are so lost, why do phones strive to be them and it is basically where they are heading (becoming mini tablets on in themselves)?

The tablets are the clear winners IMO. The form factor to win it all, phones would be the ones to dissappear. In many way they already did, we have mini tablets -mostly- these days. It would become especially visible when foldable become better...

Sure we'd still call them phones, but they would be tablets.

Anonymous, 05 Apr 2023nowadays tablet more fragile than old tablet. also nowaday... moreEntry level laptops are very bad. I could even go to say useless, for media consumption. Their speakers are very poor quality. The same their displays.
I have a Dell Latitude from work and I can just manage to use it for media consumption (like watching movies). And this is a 1700EUR laptop, with decent speakers and display. Still, is inferior in speaker and display quality than an Ipad Pro or Samsung S series tablets.
So tablets still have their place nowadays (at least the iPad Pro's and Galaxy S Ultra models), especially if you want them as media devices. For productivity they are not good, but for media consumptions, they are better than majority of laptops out there, except maybe the expensive ones.

People are not seeing tablets so good nowadays, because people wanted them as laptop replacements. Which is wrong to view them like this. But maybe is also the fault of the manufacturers. Tablets should be viewed and used as adjacent to a laptop or desktop PC.
But, maybe this is the problem, because people do not want to pay for another device just for media consumption.

also nowadays entry level laptop more powerful than new expensive tablet

Tablets have long lost their place. They're way too big to carry around like a phone but they're too small and weak to be used as a replacement for an actual desktop PC or laptop.

Now phones have screens that are getting larger and larger, and they are also more capable.

Considering tablets are made to be used for several years (people don't replace them as often as they do phones), I wonder how well Android tablets actually hold up after say around 5 years.

why don't they follow the flagship S23 name? Like the Note series also followed suit.
