My previous phone was a Samsung. I've noticed how laggy One UI is on midrange chipsets so I feel I did the right thing

Also u just can't tell that fanboy, he worships xiaomi.

Most people on skinned android don't know what stock android is, to start with. Now, I don't think that you even know what stock android actually is. No phone has stock android. NONE!

Good things do come to an end. First, it was Nexus brand, then stock Android UI from lollipop and marshmallow and now Google Now launcher. Will miss these things.

(continued from below) Early MD had a very "lightweight" look to it. Like as if you were walking on a cloud.

MYD looks more eye-catching, but it just doesn't have that same "lightweight" minimal look. And maybe that's due to the fonts, the spacing, and the fact there's less 3D signifiers (shadows) being used. This is completely subjective btw.

Wait, but isn't Google Now Launcher just the old name for Pixel Launcher? I always thought GNL and PL were the same app, and google simply just pushed over the Launcher3 redesign onto GNL while changing its name.

                          Guess I learned something new.

I do miss GNL tho. They were really onto something with the early stages of material design UI, with the 3D cards, mountain BG and such. I still prefer it over this new "material you" design.

Would be SO nice if they just made all their sh!tload of apps, as ordinary Apps you could fetch from the android market if you wanted them, rather than ram them down our throats. I hate that we have to do tricks through ADB to get rid of all the bloat that can not be cleanly removed or even disabled from an (un-rooted) phone it self.

Here a quick guide to get rid of it https://eskerahn.dk/?p=4681

I loved my good ol’ Nexus 5 before it abruptly slipped out of my pocket and its screen shattered soon after I got it brand new.

My heart is broken today, not because I’m reminded of that long-ago event, but because this represents the end of a great era for Android smartphones.

All we have now are Samsungs, a bunch of cheap, over-specced Chinese phones with fugly skins/UI and horrible software/security update support, and underpowered, gimmicky Pixels.

That is d*mb, sorry. If they at least provided a successor that was available to Android 6 and newer. But in typical Google fashion, just axing a project and leave the users stranded.
