I paid £219 for the 8GB/256GB version after £50 trade-in for an old phone and 10%EPP discount.

    A bargain

You just nailed it on the head, 4 years of major OS versions and 5 years of security patches. Amazing value.

Guys think twice before you buy I am using this phone for 5 days everything is ok but battery draining is too fast I use normal Google surfing and read news(don't watch videos online or heavy use) but phone battery drains 1% in every 3 or 4 min sometimes in 2 min
Many times I turn off the screen but it drains automatically in 3 or 4 min I tried low brightness, lowered the refresh rate turned off always screen on, turned off Screensaver etc nothing worked
            I Did not play game
Infact did not download any game
I will try to return the phone
            Please think twice
I bought it because 5000 mah battery but I am not satisfied

Hugo, 09 Apr 2023I wanted to compare this with the samsung A52s and motorola... moreThe A52s was a great phone, but it's not even readily available anymore. So what's the point in comparing this with a phone that most people cannot even buy anymore? Compare this with phones on the market now, and it's actually very competitive, if not a better deal than the ones offered by Xiaomi and BBK. Phones with Dimensity 1080/920 from the Chinese are actually more expensive than the A34, and they don't even have IP rating and software support as good as Samsung.

OnePlus 11 and Xiaomi 13 costs same as S23 and iPhone 14. And Xiaomi 13 Pro and Honor Magic 5 Pro costs exactly same as S23 Ultra and iPhone 14 Pro. So i think this says a lot. I dont want to see prices of Honor Magic 5 Ultimate and Xiaomi 13 Ultra. Also Honor Magic Vs costs same as Z Fold4, which has much better software support and OneUI works much better with folding phones.

I bought this phone last week and I can say confidently that it's an amazing phone with a great UI experience and the battery is amazing.
The performance is also very good and the speakers are great.
The only problem is that only the 128gb version is available in my country and that's a shame because I know it's a strategy of Samsung to make people buy their higher end devices.
Anyway I seriously recommend this device especially because all I said above and mainly mainly because it's guaranteed to get 4 years of android updates and 5 years of security updates which is very important!!

Munem, 09 Apr 2023Chinese phones no longer competitive in Europe. - Very good... moreEven in Asia outside China, Samsung is quite aggressive and competitive. The Chinese OEMs are really only competitive in their home market and in the lower end. But mid range and up, they're actually a bad deal.

Patrik, 09 Apr 2023The situation in the Czech Republic is same. Patrik, 09 Apr 2023The situation in the Czech Republic is same. The only phone... moreChinese phones no longer competitive in Europe. - Very good summary. I have checked price at my operator website, A34 and Redmi Note 12 Pro 5G have same price - 250 euros (note, this is price with 2 year subscription).
                              Retail price:
                              Galaxy A34: 320-350 €
                              Note 12 Pro 5G: 380 €

Now if I need new phone in 350-400 € and those two are on table, what are the reasons to choose expensive Xiaomi over cheaper Samsung?

Patrik, 09 Apr 2023That is horrendus. Thoose scamers are terrible. How is that... morei don't know either but there are some guesses(satellite communication(iran political circumstance ), selling more 13 series or because iPhone is American(tension between iran and usa) )

potato4k, 09 Apr 2023Looking at recently released phones, the A34 is actually pr... moreThe situation in the Czech Republic is same. The only phone that costs as A43 is Pixel 6a and nothing phone. For the price of A54 you have xiaomi 13 lite and redmi note 12 pro, both with smaller IP, worst soc, not so many updates and no stereo speakes (if we speak about 13 Lite) realme and oppo just ran away. Chinese phones no longer competitive in Europe. The same aplies for flagships.

Looking at recently released phones, the A34 is actually pretty good for the money. The main advantage of the A34 is the IP67 and 4 years of OS upgrades. That is simply unmatched by any of the competitions at the similar price points.

Let's look at what the competition offers.
Infinix: has the Zero Ultra 5G (Dimensity 920, but basically the same as 1080).It's actually more expensive than the A34, and no IP rating.
Xiaomi: there's the Redmi Note 12 Pro 5G, which is also the same hardware (Dimensity 1080). It's cheaper, but less IP rating and less software upgrade/quality. You pay less, you get less. Makes sense.
Oppo: they have Reno 8T 5G, which is also more expensive, with arguably worse chipset (Snapdragon 695) and no IP rating.
Realme: they have the 10 Pro (worse chipset SD695), and more expensive 10 Pro+ (Dimensity 920). No IP rating.

So Samsung is actually winning here. The Galaxy A34 is not only cheaper than the competitors with similar chipsets, it offers more with IP67 and better software upgrade path. The only one that's cheaper is Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 Pro 5G, but you also get less.

There's a reason that Samsung is still killing in the midrange market.
