Samsung working on a foldable tablet called the Galaxy Z Tab

My fiance said the same thing and refused to switch to a Galaxy Tablet when we both switched to Galaxy phones from iPhones. I showed her every app that she uses and every game she plays is on Android and looks and works just as well. The reason Android gets a bad name is that Google doesn't block apps for tablets that aren't made for tablets as Apple does. This means there are a LOT of bad apps and apps that look bad on a tablet. But pretty much all the major apps and games that most people use are the same on an Android tablet as an iPad, and if you have a quality Android tablet like a Galaxy they will work great, but if you buy a cheap junk tablet they will play awful.

No, 11 Apr 2023Isnt the z fold like a tablet.Yes!, but it's a small tablet. In this day and age, everything has to be bigger, because everyone carries their phones and tablets in their hands, and have no need for pockets, so size does not matter...

If foldable phones are nothing but an useless gimick not worth the money since the main screen breaks on every even tiny damage, its battery and endurance is laughable and they are way too costly then foldable tabblet will be even greater gimmick.

Anonymous, 10 Apr 2023I don't see the benefit of any foldable device. It is ... moreWell, yes and no. First of all, yeah there are some people (including me) that think that having two functionality (phone and tablet) on a same device would make it simpler. You don't need to bring more things separately. Yeah it's thicker than a normal phone, but many people would just okay with it, sacrificing it for that "simplicity".
But do you think I'm just gonna buy it? No lol, that hinge is mechanical, and mechanical things, including pop-up camera, is always prone to break. Unless you feel okay paying a large amount of money for the damage, I don't see why not.

Also, why does Samsung think of a need to address a foldable tablet when the Fold 4 already is considered a tablet when opened? The space taken by folding the tablet won't be smaller; it will be just thicker if not wider and slimmer.
If the screen is folded two times, good luck with two creases as well.
Also, why bother buying those if around ~4 years the screen is almost unusable bcs of fragile folding screens?
The only good folding phones are clamshell ones, albeit them being fragile as well. As long as they follow the design language of Moto.

YUKI93, 11 Apr 2023LG made a rollable television called the Signature OLED TV ... moreTo add, they even made working prototypes of a rollable phone which was then sold to few LG engineers/workers. Sadly, they exited the market before this was even released.

Anonymous, 10 Apr 2023I don't see the benefit of any foldable device. It is ... moreIt's why I sold my Samsung Galaxy Fold for an LG V50 with its detachable Dual Screen case. Being detachable, I don't have to carry the second screen all the time. I can easily detach it, particularly when going for a workout or swimming pool, and only use the phone. Plus, being dual display, it's far more practical than a foldable screen since there are still lots of apps that aren't natively built for large screen and doesn't support screen splitting. No such problem with the Dual Screen case as I can run any apps independently, including the individual app sound control.

Anonymous, 10 Apr 2023Rollables will be way more fragile than foldables. Not wo... moreLG made a rollable television called the Signature OLED TV R. LG has more than ample experience with rollable screen technology. Even the Rollable smartphone concept is fully functional with no crease at all.

Samsung be like, "Let's give more than one crease when unfolding the screen". Come on, LG. People want you back in the smartphone market. You have already shown the complete feasibility of a rollable screen phone. All you need is fully competent enthusiast-minded management that understands technology and a reworked rollable screen to give a fully legit tablet size.
