More than the functionality, it's a brand recognition. And just like what Globe and Apple says "It just works". No need for that quad core, exynos thingie on a phone. Who needs that...

people always think that android phones should compete with the iPhone all the time, but here's what I've got to say for those who hate android because they say its full of bugs and everything...
most people complaint about their android phones because they buy LOW-END Android phones, phones that are 1/16 of the price of an iPhone and yet, they expect it to work, not lag, not malfunction and work as smooth as if its a HIGH-END phone like the iPhone when in fact, they are only getting the functions and features of what they paid for, if they want their Android phones to work as smooth as an iPhone, I suggest you people should try to at least buy a MIDRANGE to a HIGH-END Android smartphone to not experience those.
iOS hides in its simple, restricted (you cant even change the screenlocker to something else) and bland system which makes it smooth (but wait till you fill up its memory capacity (which again, you are restricted to expand and you have to pay premium just to have extra memory)) and its lagging galore for you. Happened to my aunts iPhone 4, when it reached its memory limit, everything just started to slow down and lag all the time, but with Android, you dont have to pay premium to have more memory, more freedom with the things you want to put in it. My phone became my extra USB because I dont need iTunes to browse the contents of my phone and to add stuff to it, and other various reasons.
Also, my sister owns a iP4s running v.6.1.3 while I currently own an Xperia P running ICS 4.0.3, her 4s costed her 36,ooo Philippine Peso while my phone only costs 12,ooo PhP, now I get it that there are a lot of apps in the App Store that are still not available in the Play Store which is one disadvantage for Android, but you know what, my phone, which costed 1/3 of the price of her 4s could run apps, games and browse the web just as smooth, fast and fun like her 4s' and it didn't have to cost me as much. Now image if I bought a phone worth 36k here in the Ph, that would mean around Xperia ZL or HTC One, LG O Pro or maybe an S4 here in our country, imagine how much faster, smoother and crisper experience that would be? With a better processor, faster clocked chipsets and better andoid versions? That would OWN her 4s.
But it still all boils down to our own preferences, I'm still a student so I cant afford a phone that's worth a HIGH END Android phone, but you know what, I'm satisfied with my Midranger... It functions just as much as I paid. and hell, It can even compete with a 4s at times when its 2/3 cheaper...

Btw we Americans buy high end cars at least more then in ur country. For ur info ford is way cheaper then BMW Ana Audi. So u can't compare those. So go back to ur hole n play with leggy plastic.

Android is basically Linux kernel with Java support.
How many supercomputers, web servers, internet routers, mainframes and embedded devices are running on MAC OS ? almost none. LOLOLOL

Those are logical numbers taking into account that back in January and February most people were still waiting for the next Android flagships. I'm positive Android market share will soar in Q2.
