lolwut, 13 Apr 2023So now you’re paying AND getting ads? Soon you must pay jus... moreI think if it has ads it should be free.
I fear as paying customer that the quality of services will drop and the price is going up.
It is very easy to watch anime(which is unable to see as paying customer) for free and many people eventually will just watch everything for free easily, the times when you have to download and share files is a long gone, websites use streaming.

Could this be the reason why Discovery+ is pulling out it's service in the Philippines this April? I hope they come back though.

Well, you still need to splice new data into old one. It's 2023, but some things just haven't changed since. Guess what, Steam just updates all my stuff automatically, I don't have to do anything. I have yet to see performance problems with protections, then again I rarely buy games right on release so by the time I do buy them, they remove the Denuvo garbage from games. Pirating games is just not worth the hassle because they just work and buying them is super convenient unlike all the stupid streaming services which are clumsy and full of nonsensical arbitrary rules and limitations.

Also piracy is easy af what are you talking about, you don't even need to download cracks, its all precracked, this isnt 2008

walkman8, 13 Apr 2023Neither of them is worth paying subscription month after mo... moreIt's the same problem with all services that I tried, HBO, Netflix, Disney+ and SkyShowtime. HBO was big into Game of Thrones which I didn't watch and the rest were mostly dramas which I don't care much about, Netflix had some cool stuff initially, but their own production is almost always disappointing and luckluster with exception of Love, Death & Robots which is a collection of unrelated shorts, often with crazy twists which was cool, but outside of that, not much to watch, especially if you're not from USA where you just miss out on like 1/3 of content Americans have, but we don't. Disney+ is filled with Marvel and Star Wars spinoffs which I couldn't care about at all, so I just rewatched the main movies, the new Predator and then unsubbed and SkyShowtime. well, the same problem, on top of the fact it doesn't even work in any supported browser just because I'm using Linux on 2 systems, even with DRM component enabled which was absurd.
It's incredible how movie industry manages to still steer people into piracy waters with their incompetence and outdated business models. Ok, you went streaming instead of rending DVD's, but they have done absolutely NOTHING about regional nonsense. If you have global service, ditch this regional nonsense and open all content to everyone. Games on the other hand, I have yet to find a game Americans can play that I can't in Europe. I ditched piracy like 15 years ago as buying games on Steam is so convenient I can't even be bothered with piracy. Pirating games is so clumsy and inconvenient there is no way I'm going back hunting cracks and manually splicing things to make them work. It's so weird how gaming industry managed to make it work, but movie industry just can't figure it out.

walkman8, 13 Apr 2023Neither of them is worth paying subscription month after mo... moreWell tbh that's one of the problem. You pay full for one month, if you cancel it after 2 weeks a.k.a in the middle of your subscription, you won't get half-price refund, right? Plus, those pricing are not even that cheap for the family plan. I'm not that poor, nor that rich, but that's... kinda waste of money in my opinion, if you can't use it for fully one month.

I usually cancel my subscription once I see all the cool shows and movies exclusive to each streaming service. It takes me 2 weeks or so - says a lot about the quality of their content. Then I simply for 6 or so months until streaming services pile up with new and worthwhile material (I ain't subscribing only for 1 show!). I usually leave HBO Max the longest, but if this price hike is a reality next time, then I'll cancel them more often than usual.

Would you pay like $100/€100 for it?
Because for $10/€10 there is no way all them together can make money enough to sustain the productions.

kevvv, 13 Apr 2023Unpopular opinion but all of those streaming services (Netf... moreThey should all be under one subscription and get paid based on what we as viewers watch. That would push them to make better products and not stupid shows/movies just to say we have a library of 1000000 different things.
I would gladly pay 5-10 bucks a month for such a thing. Until then I (and maaaaaany) will continue to watch it for free / almost free

Unpopular opinion but all of those streaming services (Netflix, Disney+, HBO Max, etc) should be merged since first time. I still don't understand there's no way I need to pay 3 different streaming services just because each show that I want to watch doesn't even available on a same streaming services.
The only downside is, if that's really existed, they will surely increase the price 50% higher ofc.
