If it's a new product, I'm guessing it comes with G99 or SD685. Those are the only current 4g SoC that makes sense for them to release a new product. If it's a rebrand/refresh, it will probably be of Redmi Note 11.

It's not from the same line the Redmi 9 was drawn from. The direct comparison would be the 9c and it's miles better than that. The comparison to the Redmi 9 would be the Redmi note 12 because they no longer do a vanilla Redmi 12. This is not great but the Redmi 12c is fine as an entry level phone for some young lad or lass as their first phone or someone who has very basic usage needs when it comes to phones. Not everyone needs a super duper computer phone.

Bought a 4/64 GB Redmi 10 2022 for just $115 in my country.
A really decent phone for the price. I use it for regular phone usage + watching Youtube and it last for 2 days with 6-7 hours SOT. Don't really care about camera since I'm not narcissistic enough to take pictures every meal so really happy with the phone.
Seriously Xiaomi, go back to your roots making some cheap decent phones please...

Their vanilla Redmi series became a complete joke. The last one that was okay was Redmi 9. Since they started doing 202x stuff and adding unnecessary Prime/Power buzzwords it all went downhill.

"Hopefully the latter"? If anything I prefer it ships with A12 because A13 brings more restrictions to the user (such as limiting Obb/Data folder access), so no, "bigger number better" is not always the correct choice.
