TheLastOracle, 02 May 2023Actually n9w they're working with Brit and US for depo... moreGood to see the governments are doing at least something. Been watching Jim Browning and ScammerPayback for years, and there seem to be no end to scammer activities originating from India. The revelation that local Indian police being paid off by the scammers is especially heartbreaking.

Vasra, 02 May 2023Basically they banned all apps to which they don't hav... moreIt is not about the backdoor. as per Indian regulations, if an incident has happened and any of the apps used for communication is involved. then that app management is expected to provide the link, logs, chats or other attachments involved in the crime. in these apps case, they didn't comply. so they were banned. while those of communist china origin are direct threat to the whole of India and were removed for national security. telegram and whatsapp complies with these rules so they are surviving in India

TheLastOracle, 02 May 2023Actually n9w they're working with Brit and US for depo... moreThat's a very stupid thing to do: to send your own people to a foreign country. If they have done something wrong, punish them in India. USA will send americans to India to do jail time?! No way! But contrary.

Anonymous, 02 May 2023Indian scammers have been scamming Americans and Europeans ... moreActually n9w they're working with Brit and US for deporting many fraudsters. FBI is apparently actively working with the Indian Government against these scamsters now. They should probably send them to Guamo bay

Basically they banned all apps to which they don't have a backdoor to, or which they can't force the company to share messages from using legal means.

SHAZAMM, 02 May 2023Well now ima download all of them...i didnt even know about... moreI bought Threema as an encrypted messaging app I knew didn't sell my data going by the motto "If the product is free, you are the product" but sadly nobody else thinks like me so I'm stuck messaging people on stupid sucky SMS and having basically no privacy.

But hey atleast we know those messaging apps are secure. Guarantee the government wouldn't care if those apps had a backdoor for them to read your messages.

Wojtek , 02 May 2023it's not censorship... it's authoritarian measure... moreWhen you have no idea of what Indian culture is, such comments are expected. I don't blame you, the Western world has already ruined the mindset of people of being scared and always rebellious toward something that is against their will. And if that is authoritarian, I honour that for the sake of the people. It is nice to see that a government that is elected by the people of India has the guts to take authority, as opposed to just appeasing people for the sake of power.
Peace though.

Anonymous, 02 May 2023How about banning Indian scammers?Indian scammers have been scamming Americans and Europeans for many years and no action ever taken, so its obvious the Indian government think scamming is ok.

it's not censorship... it's authoritarian measure.. you want private communication? no way, your lovely government want to track and spy on you... there are two dumb motives usually given: "fight with terrorism" or "but think about children" and fighting with pedophiles... 🙄
