Old Lenovo P2 had endurance rating of 151 hours because of SD625.
Thats a battery efficient phone and CPU.
Not SD 8 gen 2 which is mostly dependable on a phone bloatware or stock android which makes huge difference in endurance rating.

I'm saying that 8 Gen 1 would be the worst choice on such a small battery like this, it will tear through like there's no tomorrow. 8+ Gen 1 & 8 Gen 2, or 7+ Gen 2 are better choices because they seem to be much more battery efficient.

And since its motorola with stock to close to stock android with minimum apps running on backround it will be fast enough.
Same foldable with Samsung UI wouldnt be this fast eve with latest CPU and GPU because runnign 120+ bloatware apps takes a lot f time, effort, disk space and ram.

I was just curious why they wouldn't use the Gen 2, cause you know, there's still people out there who will complain about that, and who knows how many more would have bought it if it had the Gen 2

Just read GSMArena's review of the Edge 40 Pro. That phone has a smaller battery than its predecessor, the Edge 30 Pro, and yet it scored WAY better battery endurance rating than the Edge 30 Pro because of the 8 Gen 2's crazy efficiency.

Using last years chipset is already bad en... moreGreatest improvements in soc year after year is in what camera can actually do and how efficiently it can do ti, and of course GPU improvements. If you are cramming a latest gen snapdragon into a phone that has no hefty display with QHD and has no demanding camera module you are really wasting the money. 8G2 will not help you out with your dropbox, acrobat, qr codes, IMs and camera filters any better than 8+G1. Pretty sure none will be pushing any demanding games on a flip phone anyway.

Dead on arrival. Using last years chipset is already bad enough, but it's made worse by the fact that the SD 8 Gen 2 is such an incredible chip. Sadly some Android manufacturers seem to copy Apples terrible decision to use last years chip.. Also, calling it the "Ultra " feels like a bad joke when clearly compromises are made. Sadly the comment section here shows that people already defend it and try to make excuses why it's fine but even if it's sold at a decent price it would be smarter to straight up go with a middle-class chip instead and an even lower price, after all flip-phones are not really meant for gaming or other tasks that require that much power..
TL;DR
Going for last gens chip sucks and when the current chip is an absolute beast it's made much worse

Even with SD865 it would be powerfull enough to run anything equally fast.
All which matters is price. Just like Moto 40 edge pro plus.
