Next year they will offer a full external screen but without touching the cameras. This way they will win two more years without significantly upgrading the product. This is how it goes.

            So the third year they will touch the cameras and then you can buy a clamshell phone.

Due to Oppo N2 flip - I believe Samsung decided to increase the external screen.

                  Clamshell competition is low. Samsung will offer minimal upgrades for a few years now.
                  I would wait another 3 years and then buy a clamshell.

                      What is the purpose of BIG external display on flip phone? To keep it closed and use like regular phone?

                      IMHO, a simple display to check calls/messages and camera viewer would be sufficient...

                                    It’s true that with foldables every little space is at a premium, but when there’s super tiny phones like the unihertz jelly 2 that have both a headphone jack AND an SD card slot, that argument quickly falls apart, in my opinion. I think it’s purely a matter of design, engineering and market strategy, not available space.

On a normal phone, you do have space (somewhat). On a clamshell you pretty much have to cram everything in two different sides.
