koBE, 17 May 2023First, the rumored price is not 1299, it's 1199. Thats... moreThe price is 1299, it’s in the article. That’s really close to the Honor Magic Vs which is a better phone overall. Tech enthusiasts don’t buy flip phones because they’re too much of a compromise: crap battery life, older proccessor usually, smaller inner and outer displays compared to a book style foldable…the only reason you’d buy one of these is to make a fashion statement or because you want a “small” phone and don’t really care about battery life or performance.

Anonymous, 17 May 2023Makes two. Pay all the extra for a huge external display... moreI'm glad that they're releasing two versions, because I think that some will agree that they don't need a large external screen. For me though, that's the main reason I went with the Razr 5G over the Samsung. I love tech, but am not one who wants to be on their phone all the time. The amount of information (alerts/notifications/replies/etc..) that the outer screen is capable of is absolutely incredible - it allows me to get so much done without actually having to open the phone. I'm really looking forward to seeing how Motorola has improved that on this new model.

Shalemia, 17 May 2023Why using SD8g1 when they are asking for 1.299? No wonder M... moreDude, look on the specs , 8+Gen 1 is about 5% slower that Gen 2, a diffrence that you don't notice using facebook, mail and regular apps unless you game.
But the Gen 1 has better battery performance and it doesn't get as hot, so because we are talking about a slim foldable, where the battery is small 3640 mAh compared to 5000 mAh on regular flagships, they need to opt for the best solution in terms on performance and battery life to guarantee a full day of use. So i think they made the right choice, now only if their camera software would be as good as the Google Pixel.

shame as with the screen they kind of seemed to one up samsung going over the cameras as well, but then they lose by having the 8g1+ vs 8g2 that the flip 5 will come equipped with...but yeah how do you all feel of the front screens and which do you think is better, Motorola's camera covered or Samsung's folder shape?

Anonymous, 17 May 2023It is 8+g1, not 8g1 he knows it's the plus, he is saying why not the latest 8g2 chip that's in all current top end phones as well as the upcoming samsung flip 5

I think the buzz for the Z Fold and Z Flip was higher in 2021 than the last 2 years. Fold 3 finally got stylus support. Flip 3 got a little bigger cover display. The Z Fold 5 and Flip 5 doesn't do it for me. The Pixel Fold looks better to me than the Fold 5 with the flatter sides. The vivo X Flip and Razr 40 Ultra look better than the Flip 5.
The buzz and desire for these Samsung foldables or perhaps for all foldables are wearing off. Give me the Motorola Rizr seen from CES.

Shalemia, 17 May 2023Why using SD8g1 when they are asking for 1.299? No wonder M... moreFirst, the rumored price is not 1299, it's 1199. Thats 100 difference. Second of all - the Snapdragon 8+1 Gen is being used, which makes a big difference to Gen1 in terms of heating and battery management. And buying foldables isn't all about top high end chipset - it's about the folding technology which has this WOW factor, and is still expensive. If you can't afford it, just but a normal slab phone (even with a better chipset) and leave this to these who can or the tech-enthusiasts and people who have this nostalgic feeling towards flip phones.

Anonymous, 17 May 2023I'm more interested with the vanilla Razr 40. Is Motor... moreCount me interested as well. Wireless charging (reverse wireless charging too) 800 euro price tag, 7+ Gen 2 (or Dimensity 8200 for example), Ready For wired and moto have a winner on their hands. This stuff should be easy for Moto to implement anyways.
I much prefer the small screen too anyways

Pay all the extra for a huge external display..I don´t think is that relevant. I think they ´re up to surprise about the "lite" version on future sales

Shalemia, 17 May 2023Why using SD8g1 when they are asking for 1.299? No wonder M... moreUsing the 8G1 is probably more related to the development cycle of the device rather than some deliberate cost-cutting measure or the like.

Why using SD8g1 when they are asking for 1.299? No wonder Motorola are struggling.
For that price you can buy almost 2 SD8g2 devices.
Even tho the phone should look great but battery wise SD8g2 may do better since flip phones have smaller batteries.

I'm more interested with the vanilla Razr 40. Is Motorola going back to Snapdragon 7 series or using MediaTek Dimensity chipset?
