Despite the Xiaomi software, the excess of 8mp ultra wide and 2mp macro/portrait sensors, not having a telephoto lens, the front camera is always bad and a few other things. I think we can safely say that at least in design Xiaomi has got it right, Xiaomi 13 series is very beautiful and the Civi line maintains its elegance.

I prefer the Poco F5 pro over the Poco F5 for that reason (also the video stabilisation is quite a lot better). I tried it though and although it's much better than the Poco F5 (Redmi note 12 turbo) that is missing it, it's a little weaker than the motion tracking on the k60 pro (I tried the Chinese k series versions rather than the Poco branded ones). Maybe the autfocus is a bit better with the imx800 compared to the OV64b. Xiaomi have said they are adding a lot of camera technologies that are on their snapdragon phones to the Dimensity model this time so maybe motion tracking might be one. So far this has only been available on their snapdragon models

This is actuall... moreBut according to digital chat station there will be a double 32mp selfie camera this time so at least the ultrawide selfie cam should be a lot better if he's correct (they might have improved the processing too). They are also promoting their rear portrait mode so possibly they might have a portrait 2x sensor (just a guess but might be just the main sensor) . Definitely it's significantly improved on the Civi 2. The processor is way stronger (Dimensity 8200 ultra) and the rear camera adds EIS. Very light too at 173.5g. Personally, really like it depending on price (light, thin and a good processor and main camera) but would like it a lot more if it had a single selfie cam. Because it's launching during 618 I alao expect the pricing to be better than usual. 618 is the biggest sale for phones in China so all the companies have big sales and are competing against wach other for market share

The good: in-display fingerprint reader, nice design, probably good camera, plastic frame, most likely very lightweight and thin.
The bad: probably Dimensity SoC. Would have been great to have Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 (its predecessors had Snapdragon 7-series SoCs).

This series is designed for female Cbinese consumers who want soft, beautified, whitened selfie photos with little details. It's using the same main selfie cam as the previous model (Civi 2 in China/Xiaomi 12 lite in global markets). Refer to the Xiaomi 12 lite review to see the selfie performance. If you want a Chinese brand with very good selfie performance then Huawei is the one to go for (in their flagships or nova pro/pro+ models). Xiaomi is great for rear cameras but miles behind for selfies. It's probably on purpose though. They know that the majority of selfie lovers are female and they don't generally want clear photos. Rather they want photos that have good beauty effects and whiten the skin (in China anyway). That's what Xiaomi selfie cams, especially in the Civi series do, whiten and beautify to cater to their target market. Personally, I couldn't care less about the selfie cam but I'm happy to see the additon of OIS on the main cam and apparently they've also passed down some of their better optimisations to this model. Hoping to see the motion tracking focus that is missing in the poco F5 make to this model. I think it will.
